Hi to all, In a friendly tournament in the doubles final there was a man serving in a very strange way and I wonder if it is legal. He moves his racket towards the shuttlecock, sometimes touching it, and then moves backwards to actually execute his serve with a second forward movement. What do you think about this?
It's legal in my opinion. The preparation is the first bit. The one continuous motion is the "second forward movement".
If you were really a stickler for the rules. That would illegal. As preparing for the serve when the shuttle is in place counts as forward movement. My coach said to give no one an excuse to have a go at you for this is to start with the racket in place first and then place the shuttle in front of you to serve. Now if I was on the recieving end of it? I probs wouldnt say anything. Unless they start mixing it up and then actually serving from that 'prep' action to try and catch me off then I'll pull them up on rules.
Lol... Lin Dan used to do this all the time. But that's why he didn't get faulted. Because it is consistent. And there was no sudden change to catch his opponent off guard. Sent from my SM-G988W using Tapatalk
Did he actually touch the shuttle on the first forward movement? I always wondered why he didn't get faulted.
I always get caught be the one where the opponent moves both their racket and the shuttle forward at the same time (a bit like Chou Tien Chen's action) then flicks serves.
