Yeah.. the toughest opponent for minions is actually Marcus himself ironically
This just decrease the chance of pure match fixing. At least with this draw the players could only "choose" whom they want to avoid the most but whom they will play in SF is entirely not their choice.
It is what it is.
They got paid free ticket and accomodation. can also say not happy that Minions got to play EndoW again (but they are runners up they are no choice because they earned double chance)
Of course in YutaArisa, they can only blame themselve if they get knock out today,, they should have let HafGlo win a rubber match. No one remembers the group winner after the tournament ends. They should have look at the big picture.
Did they win WTF before?. I will be surprised if they reach finals this time. Maybe, big occasions making them uncomfortable?.
Minions? They won in ‘17
The thought of beating Minions twice in a tournament and still not end up winning the title will be playing EndoWatanabe's mind. How much will they resist it? Will one day they say ' its better you guys that beat them wkwk'. While for Minions, they just need to beat EndoW once to win the title, it seems. Same for Yuta/Arisa i guess (against ZhengHuang).
In a way, its good when Pramel beat ZhengHuang twice they ended up winning the titles. Beat the best and win the title is what matters. (and they are not as good as WangHuang)
KNOCK OUT DRAW was conducted last night : https://bwfworldtourfinals.bwfbadmi...9/12/13/final-four-draw-decided-in-guangzhou/
Nothing much different with group-stage draw except women's doubles category, many repetition matches are on course.
Debutant Wang Tzu Wei made good run here, sailing through to semifinal round despite suffering lose twice in group stage. Wang experienced marathon match against Anders Antonsen that may affected his stamina today, it's very daunting task for the rejuvenated Taiwanese player to secure final spot as Kento Momota is looming. The Japanese protagonist only dropped one game en route to final four, convincing style to complete his mission in Guangzhou. Chen Long meets his nemesis once again, interesting match to wait whether the Olympic Champion has better strategy this time to quell Anthony Ginting explosive style.
Akane Yamaguchi was so passive and lethargic yesterday that delivering Chen Yufei won comfortably. Just wondering whether the Japanese had unwell condition or her injury comeback again or part of tactic. Tai Tzu Ying should minimize errors and more focus if she aims to defeat the consistent and steady Nozomi Okuhara otherwise same outcome will be arrived for Taiwanese ace.
A reversal of fortune for two men's doubles showdowns? Endo/Watanabe are really sharp how they outclassed reigning champions Li JH/Liu YC, making this Chinese duo like novice. The much anticipated semifinal tie in second session, the Minions will up against their biggest threat while the vast experienced Ahsan/Setiawan are predicted to eliminate TPE combination.
Home hopefuls Chen QC/Jia YF have bright prospect based on positive head to head stats against Lee SH/Shin SC as the Koreans never won in three previous meetings. Fully supported by home fans, former world champions are favoured to book final ticket and facing one of Japanese top-ranked Fukushima/Hirota or Matsumoto/Nagahara, the latter exhibited aggressive play to tackle powerful duo Kim/Kong in last tie of group matches.
Tricky scenario for two Chinese mixed doubles pairs, world number one Zheng/Huang will be tested by the on-fire Japanese pair Watanabe/Higashino. The mighty Chinese made lucky escape to check into semifinal stage, almost going down to Jordan/Oktavianti, a questionable form that saw world Champions failed in last four tournaments prior to Guangzhou finals. Wang/Huang get archrivals Thailand dynamic pair who didn't produce real performance yesterday.
Are you suggesting when such conditions prevail, top MDs find it easier to play like WDs? What s the fundamental reason?
I think it’s fair to say, when such conditions prevail, it is easier to beat the minions by playing like WDs.
the current format certainly has its pros and cons as the number of entries is small.
if you want grp winner vs another grp runner-up, you will have people complaining about fixing to have a preferred opponent in the semi.
how about suggestion of letting grp winner pick their opponent? if you have beaten the world no.1 in your grp, will you choose to meet him again in the semi, i doubt so, and the other grp winner will most likely have the same idea. so it's coin tossing (= random draw).
1. straight knock out rounds. maybe you can split top 2 or same country into 2 different halves.
pro : you wouldn't meet an opponent twice. you can't relax till you win it all.
con : no. 1 seed could lose in 1st match, the event will be over in 3 days unless they have a rest day in between.
2. only 1 grp of 6 (6 day event). then (A) the top 2 contest in a final; (B) grp winner take the prize.
pro : you only play one another once, until the final for (A)
3. increase into 16 entries, with 4 grp of 4. then (A) top 2 quality grp winner and runner-up toss in separate halves, grp winner to meet another grp runner-up in first knock out round; (B) only grp winner advance to knock out round.
con : 16 entries might not consider the cream of the crop for the year end event.
Superb motivation and preparation give the confidence to deliver with less mental stamina. Second time may require more effort because opponents would have reviewed how they lost and be better prepared tactically.
It has to be high standard because is easier to get to final in XD
When siwei are playing well they're very hard to beat.
Yuta is playing like s***
Siwei's creative defense give all kinds of trouble to yuta/arisa.
If you have to smash 100 times non stop, how would you like to do it? MD ways or WD ways? Knowing that every single smash you hammer down will be returned back anyway. I think it's a smart way to go about it.
Yuta injured? steps so heavy
Surely not like yesterday match for Zhenghuang ?! Its carbon xopy of it so far.
china players are on top of the list
they will have the longest resting time
