Anytime I also took these pictures with the tourist camera (20D) from where I sat. Actually I am not really a tourist since I have been back to Hong Kong for a while.
Thanks for the pics.. winston, thanks for sharing the pics....wow, considering you sat somewhere in the stands, those pics are quite sharp, even after you reduced the size of it... Off topic:BTW, mind telling us what lens(es) you used to take those pics?? And if you have other pics, would you mind sharing those also??thx
chris, seems u r very interested on what people do with their camera setting. Actually, I am as well and thanks for asking , waiting for the reply from Winston.
A bit off topic.. yes, i am, esp. want to compare types of lenses in different circumstances with different lighting condition etc. Actually, if you didn't know, if you go to the Chit-Chat sub-forum and look into the Badminton Photography thread, i've posted a few times recently..
8.5fps is definately better. but if i have that much for an eos 1d mk2n. i would rather go for a rolex!
I was using the Canon EF70-200mm F2.8L IS USM. I must confessed that I enjoyed the games so much and I didn't really take many pictures. The seat that I had also gave me limited angle to take those pictures since it was behind all those big TV cameras.
Pic. 1 Hong Kong Cheerleaders for Hong Kong 2006 Open (they are actually dancers performed during intermission ) Pic. 2 Chinese Percussion during intermission while the audiences rushed off to the yonex souvenior store to buy some Hong Kong Open 2006 editon Yonex T-Shirt (the one that LD and LCW wore with the dragon on the side) and line up for LD, LCW, TG and CW autographs in the lobby. Pic. 3 One more picture for the Wan Wah and Tan Fook's fans. The playing style of these dynamic duo is one of a kind.
Clash of the Titans Pic 1 and 2 - A more static picture of the two badminton titans during the 11 point break interval. Time to regroup and strategize for the next half of the game. Pic 3 and 4 - Presentation Ceremony of Men and Ladies Single.
Mixed Double Finals Couple pictures of the Mixed double final. I am very impressed with Lilyana. A stylish and Courageous young player with very good attitude. Absolutely adorable!
A bit off topic..Excellent job.. winston, sir, thanks for the info...wow, considering your seat location and the camera lens you're using, i must admit, you really did a very good job. Even from that far off the distance, from looking at all your pics, they are "super" sharp, action or non-action ones. Too bad the lighting wasn't as desirable as you wanted...Good job, again!.. On that note, maybe for next yr's HK Open, you can join the BC Photography Fraternity in HK with Cheung and red00ecstrat..a triple-team task would be wonderful..
This should be interesting and I can learn from Red00ecstrat and Cheung since they took great pictures. I am still experiencing taking pictures in high speed with low light.
I could see Lin Dan trying to make amends by wearing a Chinese 'cap' during the prize giving ceremony! How come LCW is barren on his head?
red cap for the MS winner and magenta color feather fan for WS winner. Now fang fans are jealous coz she now has a new fang fan
nyc pic! well Lin Dan is still the best player.I hope that asian players will continue to dominate the world in badminton.Go Asia!!!!!!
