I wanted to see what people thought of the venue's playing conditions, and whether that might affect the players. From what I've seen, the flat drives are staying in, and being on the attack seems to give a big advantage. It's my opinion that this puts the Korean MD in a difficult position, but the Japanese MD seems to be loving it.
I'm sure all the players would have tested out the courts before the start of the tournament and ,if there's anything amiss, they'd have brought it up to the relevant authorities, IOC. So far, heard nothing of that sort.
I believe the venue conditions weren't the same then as only a small section of the hall was partitioned and the small audience (of not more than 200 ?) seated close by, unusually so. If I remember correctly, Lin Dan at that time was also having issues with the lighting and wind (drift) conditions apart from the abnormal layout. I think he's there more as a publicity gimmick, possibly at the request of Yonex. Maybe the only gain for all those playing at the Rio GP back then was to get to know the city better and perhaps early acclimatization.
I wasn't trying to insinuate there was something wrong; only that certain conditions will favour one player above another.
nah. any kinda of acclimatization for the body will go away within a couple of weeks. be it heat or humidity or altitude.
