just to clarify, GongRN is trying her hands in the entertainment business. she has formally handed her resignation letter to the upper management of the national team. she has been having nagging injuries that makes it hard for her to continue her badminton career. Adel made a professional translation of a Chinese article about this in this thread: http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19301&page=1&pp=18 these photos, as Adel pointed out, is something to give her exposure in the media.
Adel, she's wearing far too much clothing to be considered a "clubber" I do think it ruins her look though, if you look at the photographs she is wearing to much foundational makeup and the lighting is not helping it.
I think most of u are judging her (GR) overall image from one (limited) set of prints which were likely meant for one particular theme and maybe even requested by one particular agency, firm or person. Any aspiring model/singer/actress/actor have binders full of prints. I highly doubt that those are only ones GR have done but rather those are the leaked ones. Also, what rule is there that china fashion has to mimicks or follow fashion in america, europe, euroasia, scandinavia, africa, india or latin amercia?
I admit that I like the original "normal" look. However, if you look at the photos very closely and compare the "make-up" look to the "normal" look, the balance of "eyes" vs "noise" is better with "make-up". The noise is a bit too big with the "normal" look. We ,from HK, are very familiar with the 'Mainland-styled' of make-up and photo-shooting. A lot of HK artists look very funny when they are seen in the "Mainland Styled" photos when doing advertising. Well seems to me that mainland china market have a different taste. Next time when she's filming with Jacky Cheung or Stephen Chow(MY DREAM:in Badminton Kung Fu), she should look fantastic.
Supposedly the prettiest girls are from Hangzhou? from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gong_Ruina Gong Ruina From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Gong Ruina (Simplified Chinese: 龚ç¿é‚£Â¹, pinyin: GÅng RuìnÃ*²) (born 23 January 1981 in Anhua (安化), Hunan province) is a female badminton player from the People's Republic of China. Gong played badminton at the 2004 Summer Olympics for China. In women's singles, she defeated Li Li of Singapore and Solakjit Ponsana of Thailand in the first two rounds. In the quarterfinals, Gong beat Cheng Shao-Chieh of Chinese Taipei 11-3, 11-3 to advance to the semifinals. There, she was defeated by Mia Audina of the Netherlands 11-4, 11-2. Gong lost to countrywoman Zhou Mi 11-2, 8-11, 11-6 in the consolation final to finish fourth place.
but thats 'who' she she 'really' wants to be. i can't help feeling bad for the team, though i'm sure it's all for the better. *cheeky grin*
Bleah, I never said she looked like a "clubber"; I was quoting somebody else who did. As a matter of fact, what on earth is a "clubber" supposed to look like? I don't go "clubbing". And if we're talking about moral judgments, I don't think anyone is "judging" her here. You can pretty much dress like a porn star (NOT that GRN does) without being one - to give a rotten example - but once you've established a certain "image", it's hard to get rid of it. Which is why a lot of aspiring actresses think very carefully before deciding to bare all etc., but this is going way off topic here. Also, I think Gong Li trumps Zhang Ziyi anytime in terms of charisma. Zhang has a prettier face though.
i think she will give up badminton and become a model or an actress. who knows?? maybe she will be a great actress like Zhang Ziyi
Well if she really does this, badminton will be more popular in China among the ladies! Hey do we have a male movie star/singer who plays badminton?
heard a lot of rumours bout gong ruina lately..so izzit true she gonna quit badminton for entertaiment..somebody confirm it...
Post Gong Ruina's Magazine Pics Here! Wow! Those pics of Xie are pretty good for an athlete. Kwun commented that they're more tasteful than Gong Ruina's. Maybe someone who has them post them here for comparison?
When did she cut her hair? Quite pretty i guess, but like Adel said, the dress is pretty slutty. Oh, and don't like the eyeshadow
another pic..not sure about the purpose though i think she looks better in this photo than in the previous ones, but i stll prefer her on court look...
I was thinking a bit about this (from Adel's first post) and yes, the dress is a bit sultty but then hey, I happen to like slutty! But I still prefer XXF to ZM
