so got my gravitas 8.0 and its head is so small, is it smaller than z-speed?
it is boxy, it feels agile and stiff while dry swinging.

some follow up, had a bit of exercises and two sets of MX with gravitas (g tone 5's gave up very quickly) strung at m29/c30lbs
what a firecracker it is, Gosen did something special with this series, even with additional lead strip of 1.75g around original BP
it is speed and drive demon, it has like 0 torsion so you get ready for next shots so quickly,
it is stiffest racket I tried - precision/control is top notch, and with additional 1.75grams it is able to output amazing amount of speed into a shuttle, then the steepness of the shots, never had so a lot of stick smahes brusing the net tape.
with my setup weight is 87g, and head weight is 40g, so bp is around 313mm
and its head is even smaller than z-forze II by 2-3mm but the top of head is realy squearish
and sweet spot is there, concentrated at the top....

p.s. really doubt that mizuno jpx 8.5 can surpas gravitas 8.0

I have similar experience and gTone 5 didn't last long for me either. Outstanding accuracy and precision and very fast. However, I dont have lead tape, so it is not as powerful as I wanted.

you just simply can not expect that 83g racket will be very powerfull, even though the most thanderous smashes which I had pleasure to defend from were produced with astrox 88s 4u (yes in the hands of national player 88s 4u is just amazing), and I think even without lead gravitas 8.0 is way more powerful than 4u 88s, because it is more hh and way faster, but tecnifibre atp lead tape costs almost nothing - give it a go

    I have bought gravitas 8today.
Initial feel is extremely good .
Like others said, drive ability is crazy, smash is good.
The smash seems to be flat and long, it doesn’t urge you to smash, I think it urges you to drive more than smash. But the smash is powerful enough.

Being a compact frame racket, it’s performance in cross court control is impressive, which is usually not this way for compact frames.

it is very demanding racket, requires lots and lots of precision, I think its head is even smaller than nano z-speeds and really stiff, too difficult to tame if you are tired

You can see that Gravitas 8's top frame is totally the same as regular frame, but the buttom frame is much smaller.
As a result, the sweet spot is located on the top, and the horizontal size is the same as regular frame which ensured good control.
The shrinked buttom frame makes the lower sweet spot almost gone & the whole structure more rigid than regular frame.

I have been using all kinds of compact frames since ZF2-ZSP-DZS-FTV. They all share a problem to have insufficient cross-court control.
Gravitas 8.0 has solved this problem at the cost of having no lower sweet spot. I think this is brilliant. (For those who don't need it)

Can’t say about gravitas but Inferno? Never thought of it to be exactly “lacking” in power given how quick it swings.

end up bought gravitas 8sx, really good racket.

power not far from zf2 4u, but this racket speed is crazy i must say.

the only aspect i didnt like is gravitas 8sx has smaller sweetspot and its really punish you if you miss the sweetspot

need time with the timing and sweetspot, other than that i think this racket is amazing

Should i consider gravitas 8.0sx also or just keep my ax88d 4u, For fun game.

So far, vtzf2 4U and ax88d 3U is my favorite rackets for more competitive game.

I have a Beta. And a 4U AX 88D. Very similar swing weight. But the 88D has better power and feel with similar speed.

Yep, 3U 88S is an excellent choice too. Will be faster and still more powerful than Beta.
