Would be great if you could make some comparisons. It's interesting that you feel like it doesn't have much of a solid feel since the racquet is rated on the hard feeling side What strings are you using and at what tension? Maybe it's not the racquet but this that is dulling the feedback from the shuttle?
e78.us got the Inferno EX, in case anyone wants to get it. https://e78.us/INFERNO_RD 120 Euros sounds like a reasonable price, am I right? @s_mair
This is my go to. I'm going to say it swings and hits most like a 4U Arc 11, if that came in a 4U. Stiff, balanced, crisp, nice feel. One important note... Alpha is 5mm longer in the handle than regular rackets which are 675mm. I find this extra length allows better reach and more leverage for power from the back court. Here's my review 2 yrs ago... http://www.badmintoncentral.com/bc/2016/01/19/gosen-gungnir-alpha-and-beta-review/
Actually, I wouldn't want the Inferno either to be stiffer or any heavier. Even as 4U with the slightly flex in the shaft it's not an easy racket to play with. So I'm not gonna go for the EX. But 120 EUR for it is a reasonable price, hands down. And is it just me (or a distorted picture), or does it have a more narrow head (Gungir like?) compared to the original Inferno?
The Gosen Inferno EX, I think that it being head heavy it is comparable to Voltric 80 but the flex yes it does say it's closer to the hard side but to be honest it's flex is similar to the Arcsaber 11 and that to me is not very stiff. I am currently testing a string that is not in production at the moment so I can't mention what the string is but I can tell you it's similar to the BG 66 Ultimax in terms of gauge and I strung the racket at 30x31lbs
It's just a distorted image. Compared both the Inferno/Inferno EX in person and their external measurements are identical This sounds very promising! I love both the VT80 and ARC11 - this amalgamation of specs is certainly great news for me! Look forward to what you have to say about it when you've had a chance to play with it more
Hi, I am deciding between Gosen customedge type X v2.0 and Inferno. Would like to hear your opinions regarding these two rackets in comparison. I am also most interested in which would have a faster swing / speed. Also, I really enjoyed the stiffness of the Apacs tantrum 200ii as a reference. Thank you. I apologized if I happen to post this on the wrong section and should posted it at racket recommendation section.
customeedge is on a bit stiffer side than tantrum. have never played with an inferno. stiffness isnt much to worry about, livelyness of gosens are very nice and good. i played with type z and it complemented my zf2 well enough. change from zf2 to type z was noticeable but transition was very easy!
The feel is not fantastic, I can assure you. Unless you like that hollow feel à la JS10, BS12 and so on. But maybe the red one has better feel. It has more weight in the head.
I wouldn't call it fantastic either. It feels hard, but kind of hollow at the same time. I prefer the more meaty feel of the N9II And I have to make a confession: I've just sold mine to a fellow BC'er in lovely (?) Liverpool so in fact I'm no longer an official active member of the Gosen club.
anyone who has the original inferno and the new inferno ex can give the balance point measurements? thx in advance..
Reviving this thread and hoping 2018 is the year Gosen can see a resurgence in the racquet scene! Basically an all new lineup to all of their existing series - Inferno, Gungnir, Roots, Customedge Here's their official dropbox link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/zurntqknsfu11c4/2018_GOSEN_International_Catalog.pdf?dl=0
Been in talks with the Gosen distributer once again and was told the Customedge Type K would be right up my alley. Unfortunately it turns out it’s also the most selling racket from Gosen here hence currently out of stock. Does seem very tempting but I can’t find much data on it.
