    Fidodaputa,

Have never had my racquet strung by Abbies or C1 but I can tell you that of all the retailer stringers... Tad's probably has the most experience and the best track record among them. However, I think most of the club players go to private stringers. Ask around.

DO NOT STRING YOUR RACKETS at ABBIES ...
DO NOT STRING YOUR RACKETS with Kyle at Rackets and Runners. Anybody else (at Rackets and Runners) is fine.

    Good stores around Vancouver

    Hey,
Kinda new to the forums.. 1st post actually.
This ain't about where to play.. more about where good places are to buy equipment. I'm in the GVRD (greater vancouver) thought it'd be easier to get a good answer in here. I was wondering where some good places are to look for racquets, strings, grips etc. Just ur favorite stores, helpful workers all that. Anywhere around.. richmond/surrey even langley or vancouver are good. I got some friends going back east in the summer.. but thats kinda far away.

in vancouver, there's tad's sporting goods, which is on 70th ave and granville. and there's also racquets and runners, which i believe is on oak street somewhere, and also, abbies, which is on main street somewhere.

The stores that get mentioned often on this forum are:

    1. Tads Sporting Goods
    2. Rackets and Runners (overpriced)
    3. Abbies (can bargain)
    4. ClearOne
    5. FlexPro

all in the Vancouver area. In addition, clubs like VRC have in-house stores that sell rackets, do re-stringing etc.

Do a search on the forum for their contact numbers, and WELCOME to BadmintonForum. :D

btw WTF, you can bargain @ tad's?, i asked him for SHB-89MX and he told me they have it and what price do you have on it....than i told him i dunno...but by him saying that...i think you can bargain if you tell him a lower price...and they might match that(he told me $120)

    Overprice at Rackets and Runners

You can call around to get a general idea of prices, then compare with Rackets and Runners. Their tennis grips are about CAD 1.50 more than other places, and rackets (depending on model) are maybe CAD 20 more, I think.

my friend went to clearone but their inventory is VERY limited.
impulsesports is the WORST possible place to buy ANYTHING because their entire store is overpriced. i hope they go bankrupt :D.

i recommend TADS. i got some of my strings there and a stress-ball to exercise ma wrist. also their rackets and birdies r at a reasonable price and u can bargain for the more expensive items(not including birdies and strings, just rackets)

It's been discussed many times before... try the search engine. If not successful... try using the advance options in the search engine.

Good Baddy Shops in Vancouver worth Visiting?

3RD TIME AND IT CAME UP WIH A FATAL MEMORY ERROR IN THE BROWSER

    *expletive* IT

    insert expletives

2nd time and it didnt work

stupid... it took me 15 minutes to type a post and when i clicked post, it just told me to log in again and i lost my whole post...

    okay here i go

im going to vancouver on monday from victoria. intending to go to some badminton shops to get some nice string (bg66 plz) and a new racquet (mp99 nebody?)

any shops in vancouver worth visiting? im looking for good selection (more than just yonex, plz have diff brands), cheap prices, and a good stringing policy (good record 2)

ive been to impulse sports i was just visiting and i saw a nice selection of racquets, but i found them a bit expensive and they only had yonex.

anybody have shops in vancouver with cheap prices, and nice selection and friendly salesmen?

    ps.

    fierce competition for the money:

    mp99 vs mp100 vs ns7k ns8k sl70 vs cab30 (ms/sp)

    as for the mp99

    g4 g5?
    3u 4u?

    3u= too head heavy now?
    4u=loss of power?

g4=too head heavy and a bit too large with karakal pu grip
g5=too teeny? and loss of power?

any advantages over the other racquets vs mp99? i have a mp66 but it has some limits

    big grip (g3)
    extremely handle heavy
    psychological effects (used too long)

strings? bg66 for repulsion paired with mp99? 23 pounds okay (1 pound over limit, will they still let me under the stringing policy?)

    regards,

    jc

(im typing this in shorthand and without punctuation in fear of the login time limit... ill copy and paste this whole message just in case...)

oh and also what do you think of cab20 series? (cab21 22 etc) i know somebody here is going to persuade me into a cab...

oh and also, whats the cheapest you have ever seen a 2005 model mp99 for sale? 250? hmm??

    3rd reply

and also, i notice this: 5 mp99s at store such and such

    1 mp99 is lets say 85 grams
    one is 84
    one is 86

    does it really matter?

A search will yield your answers.

In Vancouver, perhaps the most selection you'll find is at Tad's Sporting Goods, located at Granville and 70th. Do a search for their hours and phone number.

    Cheapest? Perhaps at Tad's (retail).

Another place is at ClearOne in Richmond. Also Racket's and Runners but their prices are over-priced, guaranteed, and by a lot too.

No need for apologies :D ... In the near future, you'll be helping someone else with their "Where in Vancouver can I buy ....?" cause these question come up often enough.
