Seeking one week of coaching private, 1-1, advanced (A-level) SINGLES badminton coaching in Toronto. I've been just calling various clubs - Mandarin/Commander/KC, etc - but am wondering if any of you have any good recommendations? I'm seeking someone who is good at coaching and identifying weaknesses (not necessarily extremely good from a ranking perspective).

    Thanks

I would recommend Alfred Lam from Commander. He is quite delicate in terms of picking up what you didn't do right in your technique.

He does hop around different clubs AFAIK. But I am quite sure he doesn't teach at Mandarin or KC as these clubs are quite rigorous with their own programs for high level players.

You may want to clarify what you mean by weakness, technique/footwork weakness versus weakness in mental game are two completely different disciplines.

Coach Lee no doubt have a lot of viewer on youtube. I had taken class with him before, but I say he is okay at best for beginner to intermediate level. I have not seen him training provincial rank A players locally. In my opinion, his teaching method feel more mechanistic, which doesn't work well for me.

    Why is he good?

what's your rating for him in terms of
    1) ability for him to communicate his coaching?
    2) ability to translate his coaching into practice?
    3) yield his coaching produces on the court (e.g. points won)?
    4) good for singles-specific coaching?

I am 6 ft; he seems tall too. Is he a good coach specifically for tall people?

    Thanks

Allan is pretty good. I haven't had personal training with him but I've seen his players progress very quickly.

The way he teaches depends on what you want.

If you want to develop a good foundation, he'll teach you from the base up.
If you want to "win more points" then he'll give you a crash course on your main weaknesses.

anyone have input on E Badminton? From the research I've done they're the most expensive and the coaches/players the most well known - but any input on the quality of coaching?
