Dun think they will make much impact on big tournaments. The taiwanese, japanese, chinese, indonesian and indian boys will still dominate.

GVS now being sponsored by Felet, TWK going with Apacs.

Wonder who they would partner up with being independent and sponsored by smaller brands IMG_20211013_044512.jpg IMG_20211013_045202.jpg

Wonder about amount of sponsorship money and if the sponsors take a cut of the winnings ..... Badminton prize money is low unless you win it all......I think if you get knocked out early rounds, can't even cover air tix, food n lodgings , + pcr tests....

From what I heard, sponsors don't take a cut of the winnings. They benefit from having players carrying their brand name across the globe and each time these players advanced in tournaments. Bringing their brand name onto the podium is the best scenario. And when their players won tournaments, they can put these accomplishment onto their advertisement.
Accomplished players get better sponsorship agreement, some of it covered their transport and accommodation cost.
With that said, players with no recent accomplishments often struggle very hard to get sponsor even when they were once the hot topic. All the Malaysian silver medalists in Rio (except LCW), Lee Hyun Il, Markis Kido & Jung Jae Sung (god bless their soul) are some of the examples.

Independent players with sponsors were often required to participate no less than the amount of tournaments (at least certain level) stated in the agreement. If the players failed to perform as agreed, sponsors would then consider pulling the sponsorship.

They also need to ask themselves if they are training as hard like those BAM days. And train smart? ;)

Maybe can hire me as coach and marketing manager to make more money for them. wakaka. ;)

Are you qualified in the first place? What achievement do you achieve at the highest level.? Maybe the independent players can be your coach or they might even reject to coach you...
