They need not win if Li/Liu didnt win too so yes what matters is they are richer and have more titles than LiLiu(by far) which is their closest challenger in their generations. but who wouldnt want to win quadrannial event like OG.
Make no mistake about it, LiLiu is extremely powerful pair. I dont think in World of MD in futures, there will ever be such a polarizing pair who occupied 1st and 2nd WR for quite a long time. ( 2 170cm vs 2 190+ cm). We wish this will never end. So their rivalries and matches are always great to watch.
(World Championships 2019) Kevin/Marcus acknowledged their Korean opponent was the better pair bla bla bla.. Kevin : They played really well, didn't make too many mistakes. And we made a lot of unforced errors. In the last points, we were less calm and we made many unforced errors. Marcus : They put us under pressure in many occasions, not easily killed. Many times, we were too rushed and not being ready. They slowed down the pace and it disrupted our game. yada yada yada .. <Minions won G1, lost G2, tight G3> Marcus : Of course we felt it (the burden to win). But it's the same with every tournament. We can only do our best. Kevin : We will keep on doing our best from now on. -fin- Source : Source : https://m.badmintonindonesia.org/app/information/newsDetail.aspx?/8358
You're wasting your breath here on the fanbois. Of course its legal, unless the umpire deems otherwise. I like Gideon but he has to watch out in the future because now more pairs will try to exploit the same weaknesses we saw today, especially on the biggest stages. Like how the daddies targeted Yoo at the 2015 superseries finals.
It's not going to be easy unless Marcus is in his finest form. But so far in other tournaments minions seemed to have figure out the solution for it, but again he broke under the pressure. Shouldn't you be happy that many pairs can challenge the number now?
Hold on, am I called out for fanboying over Gideon? That's not funny. Then you should also say that I'm fanboying over Choi too because I think his delayed service is fair.
yes legal because umpire or service judge does not say it is wrong only a crappy pair do such a thing yes they are a crappy pair what is their achievement so far? i want to know try to delay 1 minute maybe it is still legal or not legal anymore i want to know
I just watch choi solgyu's old matches (including 2017 sudirman cup final when choi/chae won against lu/huang) and he didn't seem to delay anything back then. I think he started to delay his serve last year, even KSH was annoyed by his cheap tactics.
this fact disturbs me a lot. No WC next year means minions need to wait for another 2 years to break this WC curse. Now thinking about this, I just realized what a great mentality Lee chong wei had. No single WC gold medal during his 19 years of career, no gold medal even after competing at Olympic 4 times. That's so cruel. But lcw still came to every WC/Olympic positively. No doubt about that. I just hope minions will have more luck than LCW.
What's the definition of undue delay? 15 seconds for a patient judge? 5 seconds for a bored one? Who decides what is and isnt tolerated in The Code of Biased and Unbiased Badminton Fans Ethics? The issue doesn't lie with Choi, Kevin or even the officials - it's really the lack of specific regulations leading to the inconsistency of judgements made by judges. How can any kind of consistency be expected when a diffuse set of rules is to be interpreted by a wide array of officials with different nationalities and subjective opinions of what is delaying the serve? You can't claim it's unfair in this particular game, or any game for that matter. If the held serve of Choi was so overpowered, why didnt the minions do the the same thing? They wouldnt be faulted obviously. Recall the thomas cup match where goh v shem and Kevin really showboated out of control without consequence? Another judge might have given both players a red card for trying to intimidate your opponent (i know it's all good between them but still). There used to be so much controversy and discussion over services during the "lowest rib era". These days no one seems to mind when a shoulder high punch serve is struck. Why? Fixed height. It's understood by players as well as the badminton community what is and isn't allowed. Tl;dr - the rules today are bad
Asian Games is a big title, at least for Indonesian afaik. I do still hope they win OG next year and maybe WC the following year though.
A loss and this thread increases by 4 pages. Had they won, no one will bat an eye. Wont be an understatement that a loss once in a while will make them more famous than a win. A sensation. Like as if they cant lose, in the world of competitive MD in top 20. Against ChoiSeo, it was a 60-40 match.
