All the Q-final places will be decided today. MS (R32) Joppien v Lee TS (TS may have it easy against Gopi, but can he overcome the German no. 1) Lee HI v Lee CW (form book says the Malaysian Lee will prevail but never write off Koreans) Boonsak v Ronald (a replay of the Olympics Q-final) Chen Jin v Chen Hong (new Chen v old Chen) MS (R16) - possible match-ups Hafiz v Boonsak or Ronald (regional tussle) I predict the Q-final lineup to be Lin v Xia Bao v Wong CH (possibly Boesen) Park Sung Hwan v Lee CW Boonsak (could easily be Hafiz or Ronald) v Chen Hong WS (R16) Yao Jie v Elizabeth Cann (Cann she do it against Yao like she did it against Tine?) Xu Huaiwen v Kaori Mori S-final prediction (skipping the Q-final) Zhang v Zhou Xie v Pi MD (R16) Chan/Koo v Andersen/Lamp (unsettled Malaysians face Danish test) Ohtsuka/Masuda v Bach/Gunawan (Americans had tough 1st round) Q-final prediction Eriksen/Lungaard v Ha Tae Kwon/Yim Bang Eun Sang/Zheng v Chew/Choong Jung/Lee v Chan Koo Ohtsuka/Masuda v Fu/Cai WD (R16) Du Jing/Yu Yang v Saralee/Sathinee (heir to doubles throne v current ruling class) Q-final prediction Zhang/Yang v Lee Kyung Won/Lee Hyo Jung Gao/Huang v Chien/Cheng Chin/Wong v Saralee/Sathinee Andersen/Schjoett v Wei/Zhao XD (R16) Druzchenko/Nozdran v Xie/Yu (It's good for badminton when Ukrainians can give world class players a run for their money) Q-final prediction Robertson/Emms v Saputra/Li Zhang/Gao v Xie/Yu Lee/Lee (Korean Open champions) v Sudket/Saralee Yim/Lee v Chen/Zhao
tony and bob beat the japanese pair at the 02 or 03 us open...i think tony and howard can win against them this time in 3.
Pity that no results in English can be found. I suggest the IBF should make it compulsory for IBF supported events like this German Open, to make the results available in English on a timely basis. Live scores will of course be even better!
German Open does have a website in English. Just click on the below address, http://www.german-open-badminton.de/HOME.9.0.html?&L=1
i went there too. i think the results are printed in english, and so are the reports (if you click on the english version button. but the draw sheets are in german :crying:
No surprise for the moment. Lee Tsuen Seng had an easy job against Joppien : 15-10 15-6... Waiting for the results of Lee Hyun Il/ Lee Chong Wei, Boonsak Ponsana/Ronald Susilo and Chen Jin/Chen Hong ...
You hit it right on the nail. The bottom half, devoid of Chen Hong, looks pretty open now, with Lee CW installed as slight favourite for the final spot. The second round MS was excellent for the Malaysians, with each of them going on to the last 16. Wong CH had some trouble against Eric Pang but Lee CW has no problems disposing of Lee Hyun Il. Malaysians (6) and Chinese (5) constitute 11 of the final 16 players, but I expect the number (of Malaysians) to be cut down considerably by the end of today. The WS and XD events are finished for the day, and no surprises there except that Lee Kyung Won's XD quest is ended by a Taiwanese pair.
Li Mao vs Li Yongbo Looks like Lee Tsuen Seng is playing pretty well under new coach Li Mao, now comes the true test facing the top notch player Lin Dan. Possible upset? As for the shaky Wong Chon Hann, not sure he can advance to next round as Boesen seems to play very well too. A little worry for Lee Chong Wei as typical Malaysian player usually fail hard when expected to win, for whatever reason. Anyway, the MS is shaping like what the Malaysia newspapers have predicted, "Li Mao vs Li Yungbo". Malaysia Boleh!
Some results MS Boonsak Polsana bt Ronald Susilo 17:15, 15:12 Chen Jin bt Chen Hong 15 : 10 14 : 17 15 : 9 No surprises in WS MD Hwang/Lee (KOR) bt Sang Yang/Zheng Bo (CHN) 15:10, 15:8 Kidho/Setiawan (INA) bt Chew/Choong (MAL) 7:15, 15:7, 15:11 Chan/Koo (MAL) bt Andersen/Lamp (DEN) 15:8, 15:4 WD no surprises so far XD Li Yujia/Hendri Saputra (SIN) bt Jeon/Joo (KOR) 15:4, 15:6 (yay!) Xie Zhongbo/Yu Yang (CHN) bt DRUZCHENKO/NOZDRAN (UKR, the pair who beat Koo/Wong (MAL)) 15:6, 15:6 (this CHN pair is really up and coming) Yim/Lee (KOR) lost to the Taiwanese pair!
Looks like Tony G. and Howard B. are moving smoothly through round 16. Now, they've got a tough quarter final match vs. Fu/Cai. But if they can get by those pair, and barring any major injuries, I won't be surprise to see them in the Finals. I would love to see a match between Tony/Howard vs. Lars/Jens in the Finals..
Lars Paaske is not partnered with Jens Eriksen. I take it that you mean Jens Eriksen and Martin Lundgaard.
More results from the evening matches MS LIN Dan (CHN) bt LEE Tsuen Seng (MAS) 15:13, 15:10 (close game according to scoreline) XIA Xuanze (CHN) bt HASHIM Muhd Roslin (MAS) 15:9, 15:4 (not close at all) BAO Chunlai (CHN) bt SHON Seung Mo (KOR) 15:6, 15:2 WONG Choong Hann (MAS) bt BOESEN, Anders (DEN) 15:4, 15:8 (surprising, considering how WCH was struggling in the first round) PARK Sung Hwan (KOR) lost to PALYAMA, Dicky (NED) 6:15, 10:15 AYOB, Sairul Amar (MAS) lost to LEE Chong Wei (MAS) 4:15, 12:15 HASHIM, Muhd Hafiz (MAS) bt PONSANA, Boonsak (THA) 11:15, 15:1, 15:13 CHEN Yu (CHN) bt CHEN Jin (CHN) 15:7, 4:15, 15:12
Intresting results, but only one surprise to me dicky palyama beating Park. also maybe Bao beating Shon so comfortably, but then shon has only just returned. Boonsak and Hafiz play a similar style IMHO, but hafiz is just a slightly higher level. Chen Yu struggles against power players like Chen H, Xia, Bao, taufik etc... But I am not suprised he beat Chen J, since he is doesn't seem a power player to me.
Yes, it is really Li Yong Bo vs Li Mao in the quaterfinal ! Skipping the quaters and semis, the meeting between Lin Dan and Lee CW is on the cards ! In MD, there are more new pairs to watch out for! Malaysian Lee/Chew lost to Indons Markhis/Setiawan speaks about the strength of Indonesia in MD while South Koreans youngters Lee/Hwang looks unstoppable too!
