I partially agree with you there, Taufik needs some control over his emotions. Then again, we all feel aggrieved if not treated fairly, even more so for players who represent their countries for glory. So while Taufik's actions are not quite right, I must say that I feel for him and all players who undergo this "handicap".
TH, fast and furious? For how long? 5 mins max? Don't think he has the stamina to last until SG gold.
No big deal TH is a smart guy. He will be calm when he judges winning to be more important than letting his temper go free. Furthermore he managed to win the match after all, so what's the big deal?
hopefully; 1. players are determine and play excellent 2. line judges are well-trained 3. umpires are fair and even 4. officials are smart then, we have a great competitiveness in Olympic 2008 to watch.......
Thai umpire and service judge. G2 score is not strange, maybe Taufik was angry and practically destroyed YKB in 2nd game .....
was the umpire of thai nationality? and the linesmen? i know taufik's conduct is not totally proper but if indeed there was obvious bad calls i kinda agree with walking off the court as a sign of protest. if there's enough walkoff, maybe it will highlight the problem of officiating in badminton. just my 2 cents.
There were 2 instances where the tournament referee was called, at 5-7 and 10-11. Each time, the match was delayed 10 minutes. This was in the 3rd game.
why Taufik said like that...yeah...as we know he is holder many titles of badminton tournaments and has also many gold medals...Olympic gold medal, Asean Games Gold medal (Busan and Doha), Sea Games 2001 gold medal (Team and individual events), World Champ Gold medal, Thomas cup 2000-2002 Gold medal....so one gold medal...no meaning for him if any unfair judgment in Badminton tournament. Surely, he just trying to do his best and doing the best for his country in this Sea Games... If so many umpire' mistakes...it would give his opponents 'bonus points' and then can win the match... Not only Taufik...every player angry and emotional if he/she feels unfair line judging in the match... ...let see what happened in China SS, HK SS...
He just try to get used to these things......like bad calls,....so and so.... because its going to happen in Beijing next year.....so be prepared on how to handle this kind of situation...
But he was furious with both umpire and one line judge. Anyway the BP/KL sf match today is officially civilised; no bad calls even. Maybe they reserve that kind of treatment for TH and LCW only,to train them for OG08.
One or two bad line calls in a game was just normal. But let say there is more than that & the line judges never been removed, that is totally unacceptable Enough of tolerate from baddy players in the current circuit, from CO to HKO to SEA Games, its already started to become a "trend" , which may harm the sport. Which spectator who like to watch badminton match can still enjoying that with the protest & the match itself being halted for the wrong reason I believe if LCW , TH, PG , Sony or any top players start to walk out in protest, BWF can't do anything much.. Just to fine them. I don't think they will get banned or any other disciplinary actions.. BWF knows the current circuit needs them, just as they need China players.. with many circumstances of players walkover due to bad line calls, BWF will started to looking into more seriuos for this matter..
In this case, then maybe WBF/IBF may consider to apply new judging system. They should put some video recorders on more angle, then the referee may refer to the video to give the final judgement.
Khun, I watched Team Event on last Sunday 1st Men's Singles match between Taufik vs Boonsak. It's really bad line calling especially 1st game that lead to Taufik waved the racket down the court in the 3rd game. I also recorded video by still camara of this shot.
