Former US Open winner and London Olympics Bronze Medalist Juan Martin Del Potro was trapped in the elevator for 40 minutes before being rescued by Argentinian Handball team. More to follow.

The Serbian was full in tears after losing to Argentinian Juan Martin Del Potro 6-7 6-7 as he waved goodbye to his supporters who came all the way from Serbia.

You have to change the thread title when you're posting stuff like this... :D

What's so funny about Djokovic losing in the first round?

What's not funny about a Dominant World Number 1 losing in the first round ? Funny for everyone except the player and betting freaks.

Can you imagine LCW of Malaysia and Ma Long of China losing in the first round ?

Yes, it's possible. Last Olympics LCW played three games against Ville Lang.

So if LD loses in the group stage you will post it here as well? ;)

I think/hope he meant funny as in funny strange, not as in funny haha. Otherwise if he meant the latter then OP has a funny sense of humor, as in funny strange, not funny haha...

Fox, how about changing it to Surprising Olympics or Olympics Upsets or Olympics Surprises or similar. Who knows LCW may lose to Derek Wong in group match?

How can I post for a guy who is not even a dominant world number 3 let alone World Number 1? Heck,he wouldn't even be world number 3 if a certain gambler's career wasn't gobbled up by '___'.

Even his last match was a defeat compared to guys like Djokovic of Serbia, LCW of Malaysia and Ma Long of China who haven't seen defeats in years. I am a fair person, you know.

The 28-yr-old Quadri Aruna from Nigeria caused the biggest upset in Olympic Table Tennis history beating the legendary German Timo Boll in the 4th round of the MS to book a place in the quarter-finals. http://new.ittf.com/2016/08/08/mira...ats-timo-boll-first-african-quarter-finalist/

The sensational news followed after the shocking first round exit of top seed Noval Djokovic in tennis http://www.telegraph.co.uk/olympics...vak-djokovic-crashes-out-of-the-tennis-at-th/

Sorry, I know it's not funny but just don't know where to post it and not wishing to create a non-badminton thread here.

He's been more vulnerable the last couple of years since winning the Olympics and the world championships. I'm rooting for Ma Long this time, the previous time, Zhang Jike wasn't my favourite either, preferring Wang Hao who lost to him in the final.

Maybe you should change your thread title to " Funny and Interesting News at Rio Olympics", leaving the word funny to mean ,ambiguously, humourous or odd.

Even Ma Long was shaky yesterday in R4 against the KOR Jeoung Youngsik in a 6-setter, 6-11,10-12, 11-5,11-1, 13-11, and 13-11. It's Ma Long's first Olympics, I guess he's nervous.
