Does anybody know when and where were the first Pan American Badminton Championships?

And is there any list of the past winners?

Bach's busy day: Gold and silver in badminton

    From staff reports
Howard Bach had a good day at the Pan American Badminton Championships in Calgary, Alberta, on Friday, claiming a gold medal in mixed doubles and a silver in men's doubles.
Bach and fellow Californian Eva Lee won the mixed event by defeating Canada's Mike Beres and Valerie Loker two games to none (21-18 and 21-17) in the final match.

In men's doubles, Bach and Maryland's Bob Malaythong received silver after falling 13-21 and 19-21 to Beres and William Milroy.

Americans Lee and May Mangkalakiri earned the silver medal in the women's doubles after dropping the final, one game to two (20-22; 21-17; 18-21) to Canada's Fiona McKee and Charmaine Reid.

The team competition also got underway Friday, with four men and four women representing the U.S. The tournament in Calgary is part of qualifying for the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
