    One of the players to evolve the sport in terms of physique and training regimes, at a point in time where all the players were amateurs.

    If I recall correctly, he had a full time job, and practiced badminton 7 days a week in the "non summer months". Then he had 2-3 months a year where he cut down on badminton to play tennis.

    A very professional amateur, and a great person for Badminton in the late 50ies and 60ies.

    Also the first European to really come out to India and play for longer periods of time, travelling the country.
