Kind of odd that he plays the thai GPG but misses out on the Indonesian SS Premier. Aren't the top 8 players of each discipline bound to play the premier events?

Yup, according to BWF rules the top 10 shuttlers in all 5 disciplines will be required to play in all BWF SS Premier tournaments occurring in the full calendar year : http://www.bwfbadminton.org/file_download.aspx?id=41450

I hope Sony performed well again in this tournament...He needs to improve his footwork. For me, it seems that his footwork is not as smooth as prior to injury.

Lin Dan probably does not want LCW to have a chance of playing him before the big game at the London Olympics. The pts he will get at the Thomas Cup Finals (at least 9,264 pts) and that won from Thailand Open GPG (7,000) pts are already more than the 15,600++ pts he has to defend from the Sudirman Cup (7,876) as well as the Singapore SS 2011 (7,800). His ranking pts after the 2 events are likely to be at least 93,234.5

On the other hand, LCW has to defend the 11k pts from winning the INA SSP. He has to reach the Final in order to be seeded 1st in the London Olympics.

LCW should play in all the tournaments that LD plays. To keep in touch. ;)

I think you're right, it worked well for LD in 2008. I certainly hope he doesn't withdraw, without LD the men's singles draw would be the weakest in years, and even with him competing is still one of weakest for any recent Thai Open's.

CXJ is not even on the radar for SY.

    Here's a glimpse of Sun Yu: http://bugu.cntv.cn/sports/information/cctv5tiyusaishi/classpage/video/20110930/100760.shtml

That's the final of 2011 Chinese National Team Championship. The first match was between Li Xue Rue and Xia Jing Yun. Sun Yu came on court at the 20th minute, in a rematch of 2011 Asian Junior Badminton Championships final.
