Indo Open is an opportunity for some provinces to send its players to gain experience.

The provinces like Jakarta, Yogyakarta, West-, Central and East Java will send as many players as possible to IO.

Except MS and to a lesser extent MD, I think the entries are not befitting a major tournament. Even if you assume the Danes are here. Just look at the possible QF matchups.

    Barring major upsets,
    Probable MS QF lineup:

Lin Dan v ( Xia Xuanze or Wong CH )
( Taufik or Chen Yu ) v ( Ng Wei or Anders Boesen or Hafiz )
( Lee CW or Park Sung Hwan ) v ( Chen Hong or Chen Jin )
    Sony Dwi v Bao Chunlai
Prediction: Lin Dan beats Lee CW in final :), with Taufik and Sony being primary spoilers

    Probable WS QF lineup:
Pi Hongyan v ( Salakjit Ponsana or Cheng Shao-Chieh )
Jun Jae Youn v ( Ling Wan Ting or Lu Lan or Jiang Yan Jiao )
( Tracey Hallam or Silvi Antarini or Li Wenyan ) v Wang Chen
    Kanako Yonekura v Xie Xingfang
Prediction: Xie Xingfang beats Pi Hongyan, with Jun Jae Youn and Wang Chen being primary spoilers

    Probable MD QF lineup:
    ( Luluk/Alven or Chan/Koo ) v ( Liu/Njoto or Jung/Lee Kor who did well in Sg or Hoon/Tan Mas world junior champs )
    Sang/Zheng v Chew/Choong
    ( Candra/Sigit or Eng/Flandi ) v ( Tan Bin Shen/Ong or Gunawan/Bach )
    ( Sudket/Patapol or Lin/Fairuz ) v ( Cai/Fu or Blair/Robertson )
Predictions: Luluk/Alven beats Candra/Sigit, with Malaysians and other Indons being possible spoilers

    Probable WD QF lineup:
    Yang/Zhang v Wong/Chin
    Tripp/Wright v Lee Kyung Won/Ha
    Emms/Kellogg v Zhang Dan/Zhang YW
    ( Du Jing/Yu Yang or Jiang Yanmei/Li Yujia ) v Saralee/Sathinee
Predictions: Yang/Zhang beats Saralee/Sathinee, with Lee/Ha being possible spoilers. Lee almost defeated Yang/Zhang in Singapore.

Probable XD QF lineup (very top-half heavy):
    ( Robertson/Emms or Saputra/Li ) v Lee Jae Jin/Lee Hyo Jung
    Zhang/Gao v Widianto/Natsir
    ( Jung Jae Sung/Hwang Yu Mi or Anggun/Tetty ) v Blair/Munt
    ( Xie ZB/Zhang YW or Koo/Wong ) v Sudket/Saralee
    Predictions: Widianto/Natsir beats Sudket/Saralee, with Robertson/Emms, Zhang/Gao and Koo/Wong being primary spoilers

looks like INA vs. CHN with some KOR and THA in the mix.

there is a possibility that Lin Dan and Xie Xingfang will be crowned again. but then there is Taufik and Wang Chen to spoil it. i think Wang Chen is the defending champion.

you mean Lee/Lee ? Lee Kyung Won / Lee Hyo Jung.

yes. that was a great match, with Yang/Zhang down 12-2 in the second game and then came back to win the match and eventually the tournament.

Saralee/Sathinee are a joy to watch as they always work very hard and have the cheerfulness of Gao Ling. they certainly live up to the "land of smile" reputation of Thailand.

Men's Single.....it could be either an all-Indonesian(Taufik vs. Sony) final or all-China final(Lin Dan vs. BCL)..If all goes as plan, we could see the 1st meeting between Taufik and Lin Dan in the SF, wow that should be one heck of a match(keep finger cross)..Also, if you guys notice in the Men's Single draw, 5 Indonesians will play the Qualifiers(there are 6 of them) while 1 New Zealand player will play the last qualifier...And the funny thing is, only 1 RANKED player will play a qualifier, guess who's that player....yup Taufik Hidayat. He is ranked #4, but he IS THE ONLY ranked player who is getting a bye in the 1st round, whilst the other 15 ranked players have to play in the 1st round...Hmm, since Taufik will be facing a bit more "pressure" as he is looking to win the tourney 3 straight yrs, personally this sounds interesting and very "fishy"...

Womens' Single...it's an open field. For Indonesian, look for Maria Kristin and/or Silvi Antarini to make some noise, as they both each won the recent Malaysian Satellite tourney and Vietnam Satellite tourney..

Men's Doubles..it's an open field, but don't be surprise to see an all-Indonesia Final..look for Tony Gunawan and Howard Bach to be in the mixed, they could make some noise...The only real threat other than the Indonesians are the pairs from China..

Women's Doubles....hmm, barring any major injuries, it should be the pair from China who won the Gold Medal...no contest..

Mixed Doubles...it's an open field. It should be interesting to see how Nova/Lilyana play in their 3rd tournament together.

I'm looking for minimum 2 titles each for Indo and China, maybe 3 to either one..

prior to his olympics win, taufik had always shown much prospects but hadn't really won any big prize except for the string of indonesian opens. he has a good chance of continuing the trend with the home crowd advantage. But hope that lin dan and lee chong wei can continue recent good forms and provide good fights.

This should be a good chance to see how strong Lin Dan is under pressure-Can he beat Taufik in indonesia? or will one of them fall before they meet?

MS should be good (as always!)

i feel it will depend on which lin dan shows up in indonesia.

if its the 'im-the-best-in-the-world' lin dan, then i think taufik will win.

but if it's the 'showman' lindan :) i saw in the China open i think i will be sorry for taufik

    just mho

MS - if lin dan bts taufik, then lin dan will win. but if taufik beats lin dan, then bao will win.

    WS - xie or jun

    MD - candra/sigit

WD - yang/zhang...they seem to be undefeatabel at the moment

    MxD - gao/zhang
