I was talking about the WC. But yeah, I'm surprised VA needed three games against the 12 years older LCW who wasn't firing one single power smash like he did against SWH.
I see potential in his game, his accuracy is pretty good, but his smash is not very threatening and his overall mind game is lacking. His defense isn't that great either. He'll need something special if he wants to lead the league as one of the top players.
Still very frustrating to have lost 3 points on unforced error. Lee doesn't get faulted on serve very often so it just seems off for him to get 3 in a game.
Had PVS won, honors would have been shared between 5 different nations! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
BWF has been looking into it and most likely will implement after a council meeting during coming Thomas Cup final if I m not mistaken. To be approved in the meeting. The game will be more exciting in 11pts format, best of five games.
LCW's attacking style is fine if he wins in 2 sets. But if it goes to a 3rd set, he is in trouble because he doesn't have the stamina at 35 years of age. It's also possible that LCW's attacking style over the course of the tournament took a toll on his body by the finals today (this is why LD plays a defensive, rallying style at his age). Viktor, despite the fact that he is still young, has stamina issues at his age. This is not a good sign because his stamina will get worse as he ages.
Oh I thought it's gonna still be best of 3, 11 pts in a best of 5 game system could be interesting, could have a lot of exciting twists and turns. Easier to win in straight sets too if the player is dominant.
Viktor's stamina has improved a lot this year. Being able to play three games with LCW after a week with four matches against four top top players should be considered good stamina, regardless of LCW's age. No player is perfect. Viktor's stamina might not be the best but for his size I think it is very good now. Talking about stamina issues, I would name PVS as a player who could gain a lot by improving stamina.
No, no twist and turns. In 11 pointer you start well you end well, there's little to no chance for a comeback, a 3 point cushion may not sound much currently but will be deadly esp in the second half of the game, you are down then you are dusted. Look at table tennis, that's what happens there, and in badminton, as the winner has the serve it'll be even more prominent. Sometimes when people don't have anything else to do they start coming up with if this and if that, and hence such silly alterations come. People keep on talking about changing TC UC format, changing SSF format and so on... I say come on people it's good the way it is. Keep enjoying
After seeing today's both singles finals I agree with shorter matches. Last 20 minutes of those matches are not good advertisement for badminton, tired players moving slowly just hitting clears.
This is one of the reasons why BWF is experimenting with 5 x 11 points system. It is touted to be more exciting and fast and furious.
