I just put 12g of lead tape all on the head of my badminton racket but im wondering if it could damage the racket.
Where did you distribute the lead tape? All on the top frame? Let say its all on the top frame. It wont be damage ur racket, but its swing weight would be shift greatly which would affect ur playability very much. Not to mention ur racket stiffness would be less stiff due to extra head weight. Well u had put it anyway, so just try it if you would like it.
It won't damage your racket... but it break the shaft and also hurt your wrist. Sent from my SM-G988W using Tapatalk
If you talking about damage on the paint, then yes sometimes it happens, but rarely. Mine used yonex lead tape, when i peeled it off to change into a new one, the isometric word on top of the frame and a really little paint got peel off. Apart from that, it doesnt damage your racket, even could protect your racket from scratch.
Then no, it wont damage your racket. It'll shift the balance point quite much and increase overall weight of your racket but wont do any damage to your racket.
12g all at the top? How did you come up with that number? That's like a super extreme change to swingweight. Way outside of a normal racket spec unless possible you started with a ultra headlight 70g racket or something. There is this calculator you can try: https://twu.tennis-warehouse.com/learning_center/customization.php I wanted to basically change a 4u racket to 3u and the number I came up with using that tool was adding total 2g at around 4 and 7 o'clock positions and even that probably would make it a bit more head heavy than the real 3u. Anyway as others have said I can't imagine it would damage the racket frame, I'd be more worried about your arm.
But they are also better distributed and will have better aerodynamics. Also no need to re-apply such amount of lead on restrings. IMO a much easier out of the box solution.
Now, why you use lead tape in the 1st place? If you want heavier racket for training, if ur daily racket are 4U, then 3U HH racket are good to go. But if its 3U already, nothing wrong with U training racket. Or if you want to turn ur racket into HH racket, its cheaper choice with lead tape than buy new racket but the way u apply it just shift the swing force greatly which is worrying. Not about the racket but more about u ur self.
I quite agree with that. With such a drastic addition of weight to the racket head you could very well sustain injury to yourself (likely the wrist). Be very careful. Maybe start hitting softly and gradually harder as in warm up sessions so you give yourself time to slowly get use to the difference. Then make adjustments to strokes as necessary.
Oh ok. The racket was 4u and now it’s 95g. I have been using a training racket so I think I have the strength to use a modified racket
