Has Wang Chen ever beaten Camilla Martin? Wang Chen seems to loose every time she plays Camilla.

looking forward to comments from Zax (or anybody!) on the match between Lin Dan and Gade. Gade has the home court / crowd advantage and Zax mentioned that he was moving faster. so did Lin has that extra edge today?

    Thanks Edwin.

Wang Chen lost today and I keep remembering her loosing to Camilla in several recent matches. So it is back to standard semi-finals as usual in this Dannish Open: Camilla Martin as the sole Dannish player in a sea of Chinese women players.

    Gade-Lin Dan

Hey Kwun and other badmintonfans..It was I who mentioned Gade's new speed on court. I saw Gade's match today in the danish television and im amazed about Lin Dan. Lin Dan's defence is very good and his understanding of the game gives him the chance to read the opponents play and then destroy it. Whoever Gade wasn't as fast as yesterday :(...As he also said in the interwiev after his match. But he mentioned that he still has to work out his speed and physical condition and then he will be ready to shine again..Hopefully the will. As Lin Dan played today my vote will go to hime in the MS..

Morten, thanks for the comment! wow, i wish i am able to watch the match on TV!

anyway, sounds like Lin has reached a new level. and Gade's bad luck to have met him.

did Gade look tired? was did just have no answer to Lin Dan's play?

Gade did look a bit tired. But more frustrated than tired. He made a lot of unforced errors. He will be back in German Open in top form if he plays like he did against Lee Tseung. Lin Dan is now my hot favourite after seing his wonderful play. Do you guys think that Gade can make a real comeback into the top 10?? I hope so but im not sure :(..

I think Gade can make a come back in the top 10, but that he will never be as strong as he was a few years ago...
I can't imagine him being world number one again...

yeah, i think i can visualize Gade's frustrated and confused expression. i remember that from various occasions like how he lost semi in Olympics and semi in 1999 WC.

Gade was off top level badminton for quite a long time, the first came back was 2002 USOpen, and he is taking some time to regain his form, but we see that there are ups and down, but it seems that he is slowly climbing back. if he works on it hard, i think it will be ideal for him to peak during the Olympics. and i think that'll definitely be one of his top goals.

under a year to go. if he misses that, then i think time will no longer be on his side..

Lin dan is good, but was better before. 2 years ago, when Pete Gade still in the peak, Lin Dan and Bao CL met in the final at the Denmark open when they are both about 17 years old. Then back to 1 year ago, Lin Dan and Bao CL occupied two top ranking positions at the IBF ranking.

Just in the past year, both Lin and Bao didn't do well. They didn't participate much tournaments either. Gade had more tournaments in the past year, but no good returns either.

Gade is still top player, at least top 10. But it is impossible for him back to number one ranking. The reason is not because he's not as good as before. The reason is that now Chinese are playing more tournaments.

Even back to the days when Gade was number 1. Have you wondered why he was number 1? He never won big tournaments. He was number one because IBF ranking system calculation results which accumulated points from the tournaments they played. Gade used to play a lot more tournaments than Chinese. Back several years ago, Chinese were very very poor, much poorer than even Indonesia. They cannot afford playing enough tournaments. Typically they played 5-6 tournaments each player, while Gade used to play 10 or more per year. That was the reason he was number one. If the points devided by the tournaments, he would not be the number one even at his peak time. (I mean at least not as impressive long as he did)

Now China suddenly becomes rich. China government can allocate enough money for each player to participate at least 12 tournments a year. They also have the only two 6 star tournaments around the world. And Chinese players are also eage to grab points for Olympics now. Same thing to the Koreans too. They did not care about rankings, like Chinese before. But now things are different, both Koreans and Chinese are eager to grab points. So it is difficult for Gade back to number 1, this is for sure because he already missed many opportunities. But another thing for sure is that he is still very good. He can definitely grab some titles in the future which very few players can do.
