China through to semis by whitewashing Malaysia. First singles match was quite long though.

Denmark in trouble. Both Camillas lost. Only Tine won. Denmark must win both the doubles now, in which they are favourites to do so. Again, if only Mia was there ... Denmark still favoured to take tie, but must be careful.

Indonesia trailing 1-2. Third singles went Indonesia's way, but Korea fielded a very low-ranked player (about 170s), maybe to blood her. Korea too strong in doubles, so should take the tie 3-1.

Very close between Taiwan and Japan. I know the score is tied 1-1 (after singles and doubles). Second singles just over, but I don't know who won. It was close though.

Trouble indeed! Rikke & Ann-Lou should win the 1st double. In the 2nd doubles, the Dutch have a scratch pair with two singles players. Both are good players so anything can happen, but in all fairness that should go Denmark's way.

Dutch got the second game...! 1-game-all now...

Novita/Nurlita 11/1 down... are they catching their breath to try to win in the third game?

Right. We stop when 3 matches are won, as it is no longer important with what score a team wins (in contrast to initial poule matches).

    This is what I thought:

When each team of a poul wins one match and loses one match, the scoring (i.e. 5-0 better than 4-1) decides who is the group winner. In the quarter finals, the winner advances, regardless the score....

It depends, really. If they want to carry on, they can, but the winning team may not want to at this stage because they have crucial matches to play after that and do not want to add fatigue to their other squad members.

    3 games

Two teams fighting to stay in the race...
Lita/Nurlita now back to their normal game and leading 5/3, seems they indeed took their breath in the second game.

The Danes in no time 11/2 ahead against Bruil/de Wit..?

    Taiwan-Japan at 2-2.

Final match pits Huang Chia-Hsin (ranked 270) against Miho Tanaka (ranked 16). Huang is largely a mystery to me, while Miho's track record is quite good for a third-singles player.

    Denmark-Holland at 2-2
Holland fields two singles players at second doubles, while Denmark has established pair.

    Indonesia-Korea at 1-2
... but could be 2-2. First doubles in rubber game now. If Korea wins, it's all over, otherwise it's 2-2.

This quarterfinal has been more exciting than I thought.

Combination of the live scoring at the TUC website and getting results from people live in the stadium..

    Who are you, PeetKielp?

Indeed.. mutch more exciting than expected! When logic prevails, Tanaka should easily win over the youngster Huang. She also played at Uber Cup prelims in Asia.
