Group 2A Netherlands v Taiwan is interesting. If Taiwan loses, then tomorrow's Malaysia v Netherlands will be the group final. If Taiwan wins, then it will be even more interesting. And I do think Taiwan is able to beat Netherlands by winning all the doubles. The key will be MD. Malaysia v Russia should not be too hard for Malaysia. At most, Malaysia will lose in the WS (currently playing, score already 2-0 for Malaysia).
ella karachkova and wong mew choo 1st game was simply amazing.........some 'chinese' deceptive drop style by ella and wong's ability to retrieve every shots made this 1st game a world class standard.... wong also made a 'shot of tournament'......defensive backhand retrieving (something like mia audina style) to outclass her opponent.... however..due to fitness problem....ella cant match wong in the 2nd game.... but all credit go for these 2 ladies
Before the tournament, there was a discussion about who would win this match. From your description, it looks like both players are almost equal in terms of skill and ability. However, in terms of stamina, Wong MC wins hands down. It was reported before that Wong MC has the best stamina among Malaysian players (including the male players).
The Netherlands v Taiwan match is currently tied 2-2. Both the Dutch points come from the singles. The Taiwanese won the XD and MD. So, we have a WD decider. Cheng/Chien v Mia/Meulendijk. The Taiwanese are the heavy favourites for a 3-2 victory. If that is the case, Malaysia has a very high chance of topping Group 2A. Malaysia can lose 3-2 tomorrow and still top the table.
It's a big surprise to me that the Netherlands WD won. (Netherlands won the tie 3-2.) So, it's down to the Netherlands v Malaysia match tomorrow to decide the group winner. Netherlands have the edge in WS and WD, while for the rest, Malaysia have the edge.
Next up: Korea v England (predictions) Lee HI v Kidd (Korea 1-0) Lee YH v Cann (Korea 2-0; how come not Hallam?) Ha TK/Yim BE v Clark/Blair (Korea 3-0) Lee KW/Lee HJ v Tripp/Wright (Korea 4-0) Lee JJ/Ra KM v Robertson/Emms (this will be very interesting, Korea 4-1) Few chances for England; Korea may even win 5-0 Denmark v Thailand Laybourn/Juhl v Sudket/Saralee (0-1) Jonassen v Boonsak (1-1) Rasmussen v Salakjit (2-1) Eriksen/Lundgaard v Sudket/Patapol (3-1) Harder/Schjoldager v Saralee/Sathinee (3-2) Boonsak can steal a point, but Laybourn/Juhl may also steal a point; Thailand could take it 3-2, or Denmark 3-2 or 4-1. Singapore v Ukraine (no problems for Singapore) Japan v Germany Sato v Joppien (1-0) Hirose v Xu HW (2-0) Masuda/Ohtsuka v Hopp/Kindervater (3-0) Ogura/Shiota v Grether/Schenk (4-0) Masuda/Matsuda v Hopp/Piotrowski (4-1) Japan with clear advantage in MD and WD, but it is actually possible for Germany to take the other three (but it means both Joppien and Xu must overcome Sato and Hirose)
11/3 - 9/11 going into 3rd set. Lee is showing more errors in the second game. Cann was quite determined.
