    Sony beat Peter Gade.

    15/11 - 15/6

what an upset for the first day. i wonder what happened? is Peter getting old? or has Sony grown stronger recently?

*sigh* ya Gade is out. Sony seems to have gained the last 2 points pretty fast.

That's a real shame - maybe the decline of one of the greatest flair players is on the way?? Or will he storm back at next years Olympics ( not much of a track record at big tournaments has he)?

but then, this just fits the trend that Gade has never won a big tournament, he always fall in the WC/Olympics. but never been out from the first round on.

perhaps the lack of tournaments is affecting him? his not being seeded probably has something to do with it as well. but on a normal day, i would think Gade should have beaten Sony.

Yeah especially after getting Frost in to help out with his training - doesn't show much of a return for their work!

Sad to see Peter Gade go home.
While young Sony is on up track, Peter might be on down track already.
All great players have such day.

Still do not know why IBF does not let Hendrawan come and defend as there is one "bye" spot there.

    yeah. pity.

with Gade, now the 2nd quarter is wide open for Wong with a potential Wong/Sony matchup at the semi-final.

yeah. good point. so much for giving the wildcard to Gade instead of Hendrawan. now Hendrawan's countryman Sony shows IBF that they were so wrong.

    Famous last words.

Not really a big shock for Gade to lose given his recent form and injuries

Morten Frost's well known strategy was to take away the opponen't's best weapons. If Sony has no weapons against Peter, he can't use the same strategy at all. Maybe Peter lost because he didn't know how to play Sony. ;)

I think Sony can beat many players just by speed and pace like Lee Tsuen Seng

Remember how he beat Chen Hong 15-2, 15-2 in recent Asian badminton

    championships?

Don't underestimate Sony! This is a guy who competed with Bao & Lin in the world junior champs.

He is extremely fast. He starts extremely fast. I wouldn't be surprised if Gade couldn't keep up with the pace given the lack of fast matches Gade has been exposed to recently. During the Sudirman cup, Gade looked to have some difficulties turinng and changing direction. Suspect this is where he got exposed. Can't see Sony being the deceptive type.

The funniest 'match' was the ladies doubles between an English pair and Russian pair. The Russian pair were disqualified before the match began, because they wore different colour T-shirts. Can you imagine travelling half way around the world to be disqualified because you got the wrong t-shirt colour with no name!

Thta's definately hardluck. It's an IBF rule that one must have their name printed on the T shirt. Different design T shirt? I'm not aware that that was not allowed....

    Re: tv?

I don't think any channel is showing the WC now. TRANS TV is showing from the semi finals onwards.

Here in Singapore, ESPN is showing the quarters, semis and finals! Need to buy alot of tapes to record all the action!

And hows the vids? Watch them all already? :p

Hey, how you know it is shown on Trans TV? Yes, they are showing it on Sat and Sun. ESPN will start showing it from friday onwards.

I just hoped someone was showing all matches!

    Take care man.
