The end result looks nothing like the smooth bulge of Taufik's (and also Sony Dwi Kuncoro, Peter Gade etc.) grip. In fact I have tried this method before and it really is ugly looking. If you have looked at pictures of the grips (without the towel grip on top, yet) of the professional players who use towel grip with that bulge you will see that rather than using the towel grip to put "under-grip" layers as suggested by the video, the professional players in fact use athlete tape layered. What I would like to add is, instead of using pieces of towel grip or any other grip underneath as shown in the video, just layer athlete tape or thick industrial tape at where it is shown in the video for that bulge and grip from the top and finish at the bottom for a much smoother bulge.
I've tried a variation on this grip recently on my G3 Voltric 80 and I must say I really love it! I always leave the original grip on the racquet so my new grip is that one + AC 102. Before I had the original grip + AC 420 which I thought was fine, but now I realize that it was too thick on G3.
Since Taufik Hidayat is one of badminton players I look up to I have cut my grip so it looks similar to Taufik's It's not exactly the same but close to. It's good for getting more power and good for backhand
some pictures please,i found that having a grip with a bulge like taufik helps me to control the shuttles better, but i dont know how to cover the bottom like taufik..
Hey guys here is my second try and Taufik's grip with my Arcsaber Z-Slash TH Edition. Of course the handle is thickers, because there is still the regular grip left from whenI got it.
Uhhh what? Do you mean which brand? Honestly I don't know, I bought it on ebay from a german seller and the package had no brand on it so I don't know. XD
Yes I meant brand, It was the colour that brought my attention. Can you link me to the eBay page? **off topic**
This is how I grip my Arcsaber Z-Slash TH, which I love to us it meant not be exactly Taufik's kind of grip but this is a grip that I am personally fine in using.
Yes and the racket in his pics had quite a bulge at the end. The only thing missing is the covered buttcap. So it is more like Taufik's grip.
