    Rankings Update: Mens Singles

Its the time of the Harvest Moon in the northern hemisphere. This year, it is a special harvest moon, as moonrise is later in the evening than normal. So it gives the harvesters in the fields some more time to bring in their crops, even after the sun has gone down, because they can see by the big bright yellow moon low on the horizon.

Does this signify that some of the older players have been given some more time to bring in the fruits of their labours? Maybe it is too early to tell! :)

On to the main business, then!

LCW is sitting pretty at No.1 an closing in on 100,000 points!:p But as you might expect, that's all for Malaysia. :(
China have 2 in the top 4, 4 in the top 8 and 6 in the top 16. These guys are getting serious!
Denmark has 1/8 and 2/16. (Some people claim that Peter Gade has reserved his place in the top 5 for until 2020. I think it's possible!)
Indonesia has only 1/8 and nothing else to show. Taufik is fighting a lone battle and needs someone to put their hand up. Will it be Simon or Tommy, lying just outside the top 16?
Vietnam, as expected have Tien Minh in the mix in the top 8.
Thailand as expected, have Boonsak in the top 16.
Japan have 1/16 and no, it's not Goofball Kenichi, but the Sho-man! :D Kenichi though, can still make it if he wakes up on time; he is currently at 19.
Korea have 2 in the top 16 and guess what? The foxy Lee Hyun Il has stealthily slid into #13 before you even thought he was back in the game! He and PSH are the dangermen to the frontrunners.
Germany is there too, well represented by Marc the Knife. :D

So, any possibilities? China may get 3 of the top 4 places soon. Indonesia and Japan could have a second player in the top 16 in a while. And its even money that India could have one of their top men in the top 16 as well, before the end of the year!

you do realise that we are about 8 months away to the end of the OLY qualification thus about 2/3 of the current points will be discarded?

i've started another thread that only accounted for the points since 2 May 2011 thus give a more realistic lists for the OLY qualification.

of course, the 2 lists should come together in 8 months time.

You're probably right. However, entries are decided based on rankings. Rankings are decided based on performance. Rankings will count right up to the end. :)

    Rankings Update: Womens Singles

    This is depressing! :( :p
China has 4 of the top 4, and 6 of the top 16. And Wang Lin doesn't even feature anywhere!
India has 1 of 8/16, and so does Denmark. These gals need to find another gear, soon, if they are to deny China more than 2 of the top 4 places come May 2012!
Chinese Taipei currently have 1 of 8 (the ever-improving Cheng Shao Chieh) but don't discount Tai Tzu Ying getting into the top 16 in the next few months; she is currently at 19.
Julian Schenk soldiers on for Germany, at 8.
The Koreans have 2 of 16, but they don't appear to be able to find that special gear to push them further.
Thailand girls however, are constantly improving. Porntip is now at #10, Inthanon at #13, so that gives them 2/16, and Salakjit is hovering just outside, trying to force her way in.
Petya of Bulgaria and YipPY of HongKong round off the top 16, and its going to take some special effort from the Japanese girls (just outside the frame at 17 and 18) Sayaka and Eriko to shove someone out of the top 16 right now.

    But... never say never!!! :D:D:D

    Rankings Update: Mens Doubles

Lets look at the top 8 places.

As expected, CY/FHF are right on top. But that's all for China, their next pair is at 10.
Korea have 2 teams in the top 8
Denmark and Malaysia have 1 pair each.
And Indonesia have 3 pairs! Sadly at the moment, they are at 6, 7 and 8. :D
Just below, Chinese Taipei, Japan, Denmark and the second Chinese team are scrapping to push upwards. Chandra/Gunawan could easily get displaced if they aren't careful!
Its quite slippery in the Mens Doubles right now. Except of course, for the #1 ranked pair, who have put daylight between them and the rest of the pack! :p

    Rankings Update: Womens Doubles

Lets look at the top 8 places...

OMG!! OMG!!! OMG!!!!!!! WX/YY are still clocking over 100,000 points!!!
I think, if they stop playing for the rest of the year and go off on a world cruise or something, they will still be on top when they return!!
Er, that's China, just in case you didn't know... :D

But the real story is Japan. They are just asserting their presence so consistently! They are going for a medal of some colour, come what may. Japan has 3 pairs in the top 8, and 2 in the top 3!!! Awesome!!!!!
Those 2 Japanese pairs of MM/SS and MF/RK are bookmarked by the Chinese pairs of WX/YY in the stratosphere, and TQ/ZY closer to earth.
The Chinese Taipei pair of Cheng/Chien are next on at 5; funny, they were so much stronger some months back; what went wrong?
Kim & Ha of Korea are at 7, and Grey/Mel of Indonesia round off the top 8.

But just below them are Thailand and Russia, very very close to 8!
It's all about stamina and consistency now for the next 5-6 months for the girls from #6 downwards, a lot of places could be swapped or completely lost!

    Rankings Update: Mixed Doubles

The real fun part is here! :D:D:D
Lets look at the top 8 places....

This is getting downright depressing! China. Here as well! Both top places!!! And if that were not enough, they have XC/MJ at #9 snapping at the heels of Indonesia's Fran/Pia!:p:p

Ah well, Indonesia is not going to allow China to have everything their way: Towi/Lily are firmly ensconced at #3, snapping on the heels of China's JT/TQ at #2! :D:D:D

    What can I say: it's a dogfight!!!

Meanwhile, Sudket/Saralee of Thailand are calmly cruising at #4. Hold on! Calmly cruising? Sudket? There must be something wrong!!:D:D:D But their teammates Songphon/Kunchala at #7 are in fact, calmly. Cruising. :p

Joachim/Cristinna of Denmark are never far away from the action, and neither are Chen/Cheng of Chinese Taipei. They are at #5 and #6 respectively, and look very at home. Hopefully, they will be trying to improve on their rankings...

Just below the top 8, are 3 pairs who could break in at any time: Thomas/Kamilla of Denmark, Robert/Nadeizda of Poland (wonder when they will make that effort to break through) Nathan/Jenny of GB are all a hair's breadth away from Michael/Birgit of Germany, who recently fell 2 places, to #10. This entire bunch is being held back by Xu/Ma of China at #9, but just barely!!!! One slip, one puff, and the wall will fall! It's time for Fran/Pia to scramble upwards to safety!!!! :D:D:D

Watch out for: the exciting new kids, Adcock and Bankier at #16, who are intent on proving that the WC wasn't a one-off.

:crying::crying::crying:What LAH!!!! No MAS?????? :crying::crying::crying: cobalt, you no good! You put evil eye on MAS XD!! You no friend of MAS! You always talking rubbish about our BAM, and our Ah Koo and Ah Tan, and our favourite smoking orangutan. Always!!

    cobalt, Y O U - N O T - G O O D - M A N !!! You talk rubbish!! You get our Ah Chan and Ah Goh in there, or we tell Mod to stop this thread!!

apologies, no hard feelings, all in light jest. :D

China, Indonesia, and Thailand have 2 representatives.
5 pairs from Europe, the rest from Asia.
Not sure, if position #15 and #16 will be given for wild card.
Quite surprised Ha/Ko is still in top 20.

There are 4 pairs in top 16, but is not eligible based on rule. They should surpass their compatriot's ranking
    9. XU Chen / MA Jin (CHN)
    13. Thomas LAYBOURN / Kamilla RYTTER JUHL (DEN)
    14. LEE Sheng Mu / CHIEN Yu Chin (TPE)

entering top 8, XC/MJ is very dangerous to spoil INA and THA chance to have 2 pairs. Let's see in the following week

    22. Lotte JONATHANS / Paulien VAN DOOREMALEN (NED)
    23. Mariana AGATHANGELOU / Heather OLVER (GBR)

Poor JPN having 3 pairs in top 8, and another pair in #16, but the rule only allow them to send just 2 pairs.
INA and KOR are two other countries having each another pair respectively in #12 and #15.
The same demography with XD, 11 Asia pairs and 5 others from Europe.
Actually two Pan American pairs in ranking #24 and #25 now

It's interesting to see if INA can secure 2 representatives in OG. If yes, who are 4 players.
Alvent/Hendra WR#8 has points that are close to Bona/Ahsan and Kindra

Let's see what the rule have made.
CHN #2, DEN #2, JPN #2 and #3, even KOR #3 are not eligible.

4 pairs whose rank outside top 25 are eligible then

Well Apart from CL having played one tournament LESS in sept. than in Aug according to your post. there seems to be no points update at all between sept and aug, so it makes sense that the rating is unchanged.. if there has not been any new rating points added :)

    It's still good to check

    .
But there could be some tournaments being dropped off (from Aug-2010 to Sep-2010). Although I couldn't find any, it's still good to check. :):):)

Interesting to see the ranking update from last week.

Tao Jiaming and Qing Tian have lost a bunch of point from CHN Master 2010, while this year they were stopped in R1
decrease to ranking #5, are still qualified based on the rules.

Xu Chen and Ma Jin took the crown of CHN Master 2011, increase their ranking three-level upper into #6
still waiting their ranking surpasses TJM/QT. There should be after JPN Open SS.

Another good progress is by second DEN pair, Juhl/Laybourn step up into #9. Let's see next week when DEN has two qualifier.

On the other hand, Fran/Pia should move out from top 8.

Concerning the 16 pairs in the list, position of Fran/Pia is replaced by Canadian pair. At last, there is a representative from Pan America.

    1. ZHANG Nan / ZHAO Yunlei (CHN)
    2. Tantowi AHMAD / Liliyana NATSIR (INA)
    3. Sudket PRAPAKAMOL / Saralee THOUNGTHONGKAM (THA)
    4. Joachim FISCHER NIELSEN / Christinna PEDERSEN (DEN)
    5. JIAMING Tao / TIAN Qing (CHN)
    7. CHEN Hung Ling / CHENG Wen Hsing (TPE)
