http://www.cbc.ca/sports/olympics2012/video/#id=2258549619 A short CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corp) segment on the cost for the non-professional athletes in non-mainstream sports (Fencing and Badminton showcased) pursuing their Olympic dream. Badminton focus was on Toby Ng (towbss). Enjoy
Toby is so well spoken. He is a great ambassador for our sport in Canada. As they say, his daddy must-a brought him up real good. Nice to see a national news program produce this item. Unfortunately there is no badminton on the non-cable Canadian networks. I didn't mind so much ... until I saw that trampoline will be well covered by CTV.
just another reaffirmation to my earlier statement (in other thread) that badminton won't make the news in the MSM! They'll focus on those sports traditionally favored by them, even the less known ones. How on earth can the trampoline or equestrian and the like be (much) more popular and/or interesting than badminton? just because 'they' said so! sure there are one or two runs by some MSM, yet there are still highly out of proportion compared to 'their' propped up favorites ---------- Ignorance is bliss, reality is not.
Here's a news article about Rena Wang from California, USA. http://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/l...ters-Olympics-London-Badminton-163447146.html A little about her struggles to make it to the Olympic Stage.
what a poorly written article. we got the leftover writers who don't really care about what they write.
You never know. A well-meaning writer can have even a potential Pulitzer-winning article gutted, deformed and badly titled by a troglodyte editor. The article wasn't that bad, IMHO, by North American standards. On the same webpage is a link for a story "Beach Volleyball: Great Bodies, Bikinis, and More". Click on the link and you'll be at a loss as to know what is the "More" to which they referred.
Here's another article about Rena Wang and the financial troubles. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/cost-u...FuZwNlbi11cwRwc3RhaWQDBHBzdGNhdAMEcHQD;_ylv=3
