Here is the line up for the Sudirman Cup from the Chinese team: MS: Ji Xingpeng Xia Xuanze Chen Hong LS: Gong Zhichao Dai Yun Zhou Mi MD: Zhang Jun/Zhang Wei Liu Yong/Chen Qiqiu LD: Yang Wei/Huang Nanyan Gao Ling/Huang Sui XD: Zhang Jun/Gao Ling Liu Yong/Cheng Jiao. for the World Championship, in additional to the above players, the following will be attending: MS: Chen Yu LS: Gong Ruina Zhang Ning MD: Chen Rui/Wang Wei Zheng Fu Hai/Xiang Yang (?) LD: Chen Lin/Zhang Xuelian Wei Yili/Zhang Jiewen XD: Chen Qiqiu/Chen Lin Zheng Fu Hai/Wei Yili
according to Li Yongbo, Indonesia and Korea are more of a threat than Denmark. Li puts the chance of China retaining the Sudirman Cup at "a little bit above 50%"
I'm just assuming here that Taufik will be competing without any more trouble with the PBSI but if he does i think the mens singles will be as follows Taufik Hidayat Hendrawan ?? As for mens doubles? This one is hard..... Choice between Candra/Sigit and Tony/Halim followed by Flandi/Eng
3rd MS should be Rony Agustinus. And I think they should field both Tony/Halim and Candra/Sigit, instead of Flandy/Eng Hian. Kwon Seung Taek from Korea says he isn't expecting his team to do well in the SC. Target is SF. He doesn't promise much in the WC either, not even from the traditionally strong MD or the promising MS. HI Lee says he's aiming for the WC finals; MD looks a bit out of sorts. As for Indonesia, sigh... let's just say it will take a miracle for them to pull through.
sounds like the Korean has given up even before a real fight. or is it just a tactic? China does have two events advantage over other countries though. it will be difficult for any of the other countries to pull through cause it will require them to win MS, MD and XD. it will be tough, but i don't think it is an impossible task. also, although China is fearing the Koreans, and that they are in the same group, China won't be bumping into them in the semi-finals.
For the Koreans, their chances will be in winning Men's doubles, Mxd and Men's singles. If they're up against Indonesia, they'll have a outside chance of winning through ladies singles and doubles, and mxd. It's gonna be an interesting tournament
Nice to hear that Dai Yun is included. To me she's a remarkable player.Dunno what caused her to lose 11-0 to Martin in the Olymps. By now hopefully, she's in the right frame of mind to take on whomever she might have to meet & to emerge the victor. Chen Yu has been preferred over Xiao Hui presumably becoz of his youth & his future potential . Have to agree with Li Yongbo of his country's chances in the SC..
barring surprises, it is pretty clear that China, Korea, Indonesia and Denmark will advance to the semis. there are two possible combinations: China vs Indonesia - Korea vs. Denmark or China vs Denmark - Korea vs. Indonesia hmm...... either scenarios, each country has a very even chance, this is going to be a very interesting match indeed!
It is just outrageous that Xiao Hui, ranked 16the in world by attending only four tournaments, cannot attend Worldshapionships. This is definitely not the professional way for fair competition. Can you imagine that only four Americans are allow to compete in Gold tour or tennis tour? There is no wonder no sponsors for badminton tournaments and its superstars! For Sudirman Cup (in Chinese it's called "su di man (losing slowly)"), China, Korea, Denmark, and Indonesia are most likely semi-finalists. Assume that: event - China : Korea M.S. 60%: 40% L.S. 80% : 20% M.D. 50% : 50% L. D. 80% : 20% X. D. 55% : 45% event - China : Denmark M.S. 50%: 50% L.S. 65% : 35% M.D. 50% : 50% L. D. 90% : 10% X.
