Li YongBo has announced the official target for the WC is 2-3 gold. this is pretty realistic consider one each for WS/WD, and then potentially one from MS/MX.

but what about MD? the official target is none, but Tang XinFu, who's now the MD coach, set an internal target of reaching the semi-final.

lofty goal? perhaps, given the Chinese MD track record. but apparently the younger pairs of Sang Yang / Zhang Bo and Cai/Fu are improving at a dramatic rate.

imho, now what they need is more experience in the court.

    only time will tell.

Well, according to "ChinaBadminton", some players have confidence to let 2 pairs meet in semi final.

According to historical status, hard... especially both pairs are still somehow not very consistent at this moment. Asking them to pass through tons of well-known contenders is a hard task. However, never know whether they can be the "dark horse" again as in Sudirman Cup (against Ind.).

Can Hong Kong be counted as a Chinese pair?

A very valid question. I was wondering about this myself. Perhaps not until 2057, is it?

thanks for bringing this thread up. from the current quarterfinal lineup, may be it is not unachieveable afterall. maybe not all 3 pair, but perhaps one pair?

Technically yes. But in this context, I would say no because under this circumstances, Chinese Pair means a pair from Team China.
