The new XD play pattern in the PPR system require a lot more speed and agility on the men, big men like Zhang Jun is at a disadvantage. If I may venture an opinion, I would say Lee Yong Dae and Han Sang Hoon are best at this though their XD partnerships need a lot of fine tuning. Flandy Limpele is the only "old" player that can hold his own in the top echelon of XD. But that's because from his movements, you can see that he manages his energy efficiently (like Morten Frost), not everyone can do that.

You missed the points..even tennis players prefer to win French open instead of winning of many clay titles same thing for US open....who if you win all warming up hard court tournamenst but you do not win US open...even Tiger wood perfer to win Masters instead of regular series...if WC is nothing then SS is even not important as it is many of them... Why Gao Ling/Zheng Bo lost to the Indon MX pair I noticed that all of the shots by the Indon pair were designed to tire out Zheng bo who is not that fittest shuttler in the China team....I think Gao Ling only hit about 30% of the shots whereas Zheng Bo was flat out running left right...front back and doing most of the smashing....no wonder he made so many mistakes....coz he's totally exhausted. Maybe Gao Ling was also saving herself for the WD's final. Natsir and Widianto was spot on as their combined relentless attack on Zheng Bo....Gao Ling can only watched and smiled. Indonesia has a very good coaches and support team....They studied they opponents very well and exploited their weakness spectacularly....case in point..the MX doubles final, Men's Doubles Semifinal/final and Sony's triumph over LCW and PG.

I think it was reported that Nova and Natsir targeted the big Zheng Bo right from the start, a strategy which proved to be most rewarding! Such a strategy of attacking the man instead of the woman in XD would prove disastrous under normal circumstances but maybe the Indonesians consider Gao to be more superior than her partner Zheng, certainly in the front court!
