I did not follow the Chinese young players, so this is what I think.

It's been mentioned that China nowadays do not have the same resources as it used to. Many coaches has said the same thing since the late 80-90s. China's social and economic development provided different opportunities to their people and badminton (and other non-mainstream sports) may not be seen as a way to achieve better economic/social status. I think now the selection may come from more sources rather than the usual centralized approach where the young potential talents are selected from the sports schools. One example I can see is from Tang Xianfu's badminton school, kids come from the schools and train/play there. The emphasis seems to be developing their technical skills and leave the physical development for a later stage when the potential athletes decide to follow a professional career.

Banuka, Sun Chao was in the Jinjiang training camp at the same time as players like Chen Long, Shi Yuqi, Dong Tianyao, Liu Liang and others; perhaps he is still there. If he makes progress, maybe he will be given a chance on the senior circuit.

    Funny joke :D
His retirement will arrive soon, it's getting more difficult and complex to make comeback as his WR towards zero end of this year.

Yes, his name has been registered for three tours in Europe but tournament point will not enough to compensate deficiency following long absence in first half of this year. Assuming his WR will be out of top-32 and slim chance to take part MAS Open (S1000) on January 2023.

HKG-MAC-CHN Open-CHN Masters and he isn't qualified for the Finals in Guangzhou, so his last tournament in 2022 perhaps Hylo Open or AUS Open (if he would register).

Their dominance in diving arena keeps intact, far from receding, the regeneration is going smoothly, snatched 7 of 8 gold medals in Tokyo OG last year and created clean sweep (13 gold medals) in World Aquatics Championships in Budapest last July.

Can he enter WT 300 next year? There are only 5 WT300 from Jan to April next year…

Maybe he can pick up some points at the Asian team championships

No Sun Chao in WJC team.
Liu Shengshu is in women’s team, probably explains why she’s not in Indonesia partnering Tan Ning.

Sorry, I don't follow the news of the Chinese diving team or have any idea about their resources. I know a diving 'queen' is married to one of the well known families in Hong Kong, but can't recall her name.

Thanks for the information. I do now remember the other that is married to a former government official.
I did not know about Gong Ruina living in Hong Kong. Is she doing anything related to badminton?

Gong Ruina isn’t doing anything related to badminton. When I met her a few years ago, she had two children at school in Hong Kong. Seemed quite happy the kids could go to school using Chinese and English fluently.
