Here are more Kids' badminton for you if you have nothing to do and want to kill time. All are finals for 10-11-years-old kids. Some of these kids have reasonably good basics.

Thank you Nine Tailed Fox and tbgoh288 for the uploads. Appreciate if there are more. Great to see the kids. Both the players dressed in black have potential. The boy in black and yellow has great enthusiasm. The way he studies his opponent as he serves shows his confidence. Would love to know his name for future reference. Similarly the young girl in black has good confidence and shows an attacking game. Again would love to know her name. I enjoy seeing the juniors to spot any talents in the making.

The CBA should have national Junior tournaments like the Asian junior championships, supported by Companies. This will bring the juniors across China to play in a very competitive atmosphere.
It will be easier to pick out talents in this way.

See that, how Ko Sung Hyun/Shin Baekcheol took out The Minions, Marcus/Kevin, for the French Open'21 MD title in two straight sets, 21-17, 22-20. En route to the final , they also vanquished INA Mohd Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan and MAS Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik.

I mean, CHN MDs and coaches would do well to study how they did it, there are some lessons to be learnt, I'm sure. Note that Ko is 34, and Shin, 32 years of age.

Ahsan/Setiawan have been out of shape since Tokyo OG, Chia/Soo can play well but are not a stable pair and also lack experience, Gideon/Sukamuljo didn't play well today (mostly Sukamuljo to be fair to Gideon).

Not sure what you would want the Chinese players/coaches to take away from the Koreans' matches...

In my opinion, the CHN MDs, apart from Li JH/Liu YC, generally lose out in the front court play, and their coordination and follow-up on each other's shotmaking are not smooth, their tacit understanding and mutual rapport not good enough.

Just compare how Zhang Nan and Fu Haifeng hit it off quite well when they partnered each other after Cai Yun's retirement. I once commented Fu Haifeng in those few years with Zhang Nan was already past 30, yet he's an old dog who could learn new tricks, not only hammering away at the rear court which was what he's known for but also able to handle front court play when needed. The pair just clicked.

TBH, I'm more into Singles , my observations in Doubles may not measure up to yours.

Zhang Nan and Fu Haifeng pairing was not an ideal solution. They were just lucky to score the Gold Medal at the right time and with the right luck in Rio 2016. Otherwise the pair does not go far to represent China.

China does not have any good solution in men's doubles . They can get about hundreds of men enrolling to play men's double but they cannot be world beaters. It is a mystery yet to be solved. Maybe the culture of individualism is so entrench in Chinese society that it is affecting the success of Men's doubles and to some extent women's doubles ? China Women Doubles could get away in the past because they rely on brute force and speed with constant smashing like men. if they meet a more tactical and intelligent pairing, they will struggle to win.

Boys 10-years-old final. Left-handed boy in white is Zhang Lican, boy in black and yellow is Yu Guanhong (winner)
Girls 11-years-old final. Girl in red is Zhang Yihan, Girl in black is Dong Zixian (winner)
Hope there will be streaming of the matches for 13-years-old. Then we probably will get to watch Xu Wenjing play. She is Li Yu's protege who took part in the Chinese league earlier this year

So my observations were were quite correct, both of them have great potential. Thank you for giving their names . I hope to see how they progress. These youngsters should be taken in for quality training and given good nutrition to build up their physique.
And yes it would be good to see the 13 year olds. I hope someone would be able to download the matches. I am a great fan of the juniors as thats the future of Chinese badminton.

I beg your pardon, culture of individualism? That's America's 'me first' or extreme individualism, for China it's collectivism much more than individualism, 'Nation Before Self'.

As Fu Haifeng was at that time in semi-retirement or in the twilight of his career, his partnership with Zhang Nan ,both of whom are each multiple major titlists in their own right before coming together, made their achievements as a pair quite remarkable as they hit the ground running with no teething problems. No one should begrudge them the Rio'16 MD Gold as they complemented each other rather well as if they had been longtime partners.

Saw this interesting news that two young Chinese players were suspended 2 years by BWF due to match manipulations (or similar). And CBA was in agreement…

    https://www.firstpost.com/sports/tw...-years-for-match-fixing-betting-10113701.html

Two Chinese badminton players have been banned for two years for breaking rules on match-fixing and illegal betting, the sport's governing body said Friday.

Zhu Jun Hao fixed the outcome of a match in 2019 by intentionally losing the first game, an investigation found. He went on to win the match.

The player also bet on the Orleans Masters match, according to a Badminton World Federation (BWF) panel that probed the case.

He also gave inside information to an unauthorised person.

Zhang Bin Rong bet on matches on 36 occasions at tournaments in China, Switzerland and France in 2019, the BWF said.

#世说新羽#Isolation, preparation and competition are difficult, and Guoyu's dilemma of participating in the World Championships

The year 2021 is a big year for badminton competitions, and the Olympic Games, Sudirman Cup, Tangyou Cup and World Championships are historically held in the same year. After the first three competitions, the World Championships in huelva, Spain, the last competition this year, will be held on December 12th.

However, just at this critical time node where there is only one month left before the competition, the Chinese badminton team, which came home from the three European races, is still in centralized isolation after returning home. In the face of the 2021 World Championships to be held one month later, Guoyu is in a dilemma.

Huelva World Championships: Rare but Difficult

As the highest-level individual event of the World Badminton Federation, the World Championships carry badminton players' dream of individual world champion, especially since the outbreak of the epidemic, the number of international events has dropped sharply, and the major events and high-level events have gradually recovered since the Olympic Games. As the first World Championship after the outbreak, the huelva World Championship is of special significance to the players.

For the Chinese team players, they didn't take part in any international competitions in the 17 months from last year's All England Championship to this year's Olympic Games, and only 14 main players took part in the Tokyo Olympic Games, and the players, especially the young players, reached the peak of their desire for the competition. From the previous Sudirman Cup and Tonyo Cup held in Europe, we can see that young players are eager for the stage, and their energy and enthusiasm accumulated for more than a year are released here.

Recently, the World Badminton Federation announced the latest shortlist for the World Championships. The Chinese team won a total of 19 seats in five events, including many young players who qualified for the World Championships for the first time. Under the current global epidemic situation, the World Championships are rare and have great exercise value for young players. However, the big environment also makes it more difficult for Guoyu to participate in the World Championships, including the round-trip and isolation problems, the players' physical condition and injuries, and the difficulty of preparing for war.

Isolation: Breaking the Physical Condition and Preparing for War

The most prominent difficulty is the immediate problem of preparing for war. Guo Yu returned to China after several races in Europe, and according to relevant regulations, he was kept in Beijing for 21 days of centralized medical observation and isolation, which could not be unsealed until the middle of this month. During this period, more than 20 players of the whole team can only do some physical and strength training and simple exercises such as serving and pumping in their own rooms, and the training amount can't be compared with normal training, or even the adjustment day of ordinary training. After isolation, it often takes ten days or even longer for athletes' physical function to return to normal training level, and then slowly enter the training plan.

In the past, Chinese badminton teams often had four to seven weeks of training before each competition, so as to ensure that players can receive systematic training and reserve energy scientifically. Over the years, the players have already adapted to the pre-competition reserve and released it in a targeted manner. Once this mode of preparation is broken, they will face physical fatigue, the decline of competition status, and even the attack of injuries, which is reflected by the injuries and fatigue of major players such as Chen Yufei, Huang Dongping and Wang Yilu in the National Games and several European races. During the ten days after returning to China, Guoyu's team members lamented most that they were too tired to compete with each other, and the body was a little overwhelmed, but it was very hard to recover after a few days' rest.

Single entry: the round trip is difficult

At present, there are still ten days before the end of the isolation of Guoyu, but it is less than a month before the start of the World Championships, and the actual time left for Guoyu to prepare for the World Championships is only three weeks. Besides, there are a series of times that need to be calculated separately, such as the time for players to return to normal training after isolation, the transportation and adjustment time to Chengdu training base after isolation, and the time from home to huelva.

Huelva, the host city of the World Championships, is located in the south of Spain, about 500 kilometers away from Madrid, the capital of Spain. Affected by the epidemic situation, the participating teams can only fly to Madrid and then transfer to huelva by train or bus. Different from the recent mode of concentrated competition, there are no other international competitions before and after the World Championships in huelva, which means that Guoyu will face two major problems: returning to China and entering isolation for the third time after participating in the competition for a week.

At present, the Chinese Embassy in Spain requires all passengers flying from Spain to China to start self-isolation at home and complete self-health monitoring seven days before the flight takes off, and to have Covid-19 nucleic acid test and serum specific IgM antibody test twice in different designated institutions seven days before the flight takes off and within 48 hours before the flight takes off. Only by the negative results of these two "double tests" can they apply to the embassy or consulate for the flight green code, which is another difficulty for the team that has only participated in the competition in Spain for one week.

Participation plan: it is more important to look to the future

Last week, the World Badminton Federation announced the latest competition calendar for 2022, in which three races were held in India in January and four races were held in Europe in March. At present, Guoyu is still planning for next year's competition, and it is uncertain whether India's competition can be held, but what is certain is that if Guoyu returns to China from the World Championships for the third time to be closed and isolated, then the competition in January next year will not be considered.

Athletes of Guoyu are eager to compete and win glory for their country in the competition. Their good play must be based on sufficient reserves and training before the competition, but the time left for Guoyu to prepare for the World Championships is very limited. If you put yourself into high-intensity preparations immediately after the isolation, it will lead to the risk of injury, and if you don't return to the normal physical function and confrontation level in time, it will inevitably affect Guoyu's performance and achievements in the World Championships, which is the dilemma faced by Chinese badminton teams.

Since 2006, the World Championships have been held every year instead of every two years. The number of champions produced by the World Championships has increased, and the gold content has also decreased. In this special year of 2021, Guoyu has successively achieved very good results in the three major competitions of Tokyo Olympic Games, Sudirman Cup and Tangyou Cup, all of which benefited from the national epidemic prevention achievements and strong guarantee. Under this premise and the dilemma before us, the value of this year's World Championships is worth reconsidering, and whether the trip to huelva is imperative is debatable. In the face of the dilemma, if we have to choose between the two, then the players' health and sustainable development are obviously more important. After all, the World Championships are not the only goal, and Guoyu should also focus on next year's Tanyo Cup, the World Championships and even the further Paris Olympic Games.

Figure 1 Guoyu has performed well in this year's competition, reflecting the effect of long-term closed training
Fig. 2 During the isolation period, the physical trainer can only organize the team members to use simple equipment for simple training through the network
Fig. 3 The venue of the huelva World Championships, which once hosted the 2021 Spanish Masters

Sad reality , tough situation for Chinese Shuttlers . I hope CBA will found an affective solution and governemnt could give some slack for athlete to not undergo 21days long quarantine .

Indeed, the Chinese shuttlers for the upcoming World Championship next month are facing considerable difficulties in their training and preparation due to strict internal Covid measures requiring 21-day quarantine leaving them only 1-week to get ready before flying to Spain, which means none of them will be up to speed at the major event, clearly putting them at an undeniable disadvantage.

How not to be pessimistic about their chances. Not surprising at all if they end up empty-handed.

Sounds like two journeymen hovering at the lower ranks of the circuit.
