    ongonig match.

ChenQQ/ZhaoTT leading Kim/Lee 15/11. C/Z surged off to a 9-0 lead in the first game only to be caught up to 11/11 and then they got their act together and took the first game.

C/Z seems to have problem holding up their pace when they are on a good run. gets too relaxed and allow their opponent to gain advantage. and of course, the usual C/Z problem of being too defensive, seems to be happy just lifting everything.

    ChenBalloon/ZhaoTT took 2nd game and the match 15/11 - 15/7.

was kinda disappointed by Kim/Lee. to my eyes, they show glimpse of the brilliance of Kim/Ra. however, KimYH isn't as powerful and deceptive as KimDM, and Lee doesn't have that killing instinct of Ra.

Ra sees an opportunity and have the ability to end the rally in a decisive manner, LeeHyoJung on the other hand, seems to be happy just putting it over the other end of the court in a relatively lazier manner and continuing the rally.

but credit must go to Chen/Zhao for the 2nd game. they boosted their effort and never slowed down. both displaying brilliant coverage at the rear/mid court and at the net.

Chen has a very clean and surgical style of badminton, unlike for example ZhangJun who is more power, Chen prefer steep sharp smashes and accurate placement. very composed and patient player.

    still prefer JR/Rikke. :(

with Robertson/Emms and Zhang/Gao out, and Kim/Ra not competing, the XD field is wide open and we could potentially see a revival of the XD event for Indonesia.

I agree. They won 8 or 9 straight points. ZhaoTT killed everything. Then after she fell on her butt, I think they lost a bit of concentration. Chen especially started making a bit of errors. But it's good that they managed to get it together. I like how they communicate on talk on the court after every bad rally. And :D @ ChenBalloon!

Kim/Lee seemed sort of flat, though, especially the second game. But it was a good game. I hope someone recorded the stream.

woohoo!! haha... cqqztt used to be a totally defensive doubles pairing and they were good at it too but playing like they used to, they could never get very far in most competitions... plus they used to be very very inconsistent too... well great effort on their part!! hope this marks the begining of better times for them... haha... and now that zhang gao have lost, china will hafta bank on them for the gold... like the falling out of the old guard... haha woops ;)

hmmm yeah i'm quite shocked zhang gao lost... but i'm even more surprised mogensen olsen lost too!! i wonder wat happened!!

Maybe because Lee and Kim's attacks are not as penetrative as Kim Dm and Ra. From what I can tell, their stamina is not as good either, so maybe the Chinese are trying to tire them out, especially Lee HJ. With Kim and Ra, if either of them are not having too good a day, either one of them can hold them together (apart from that rare Olympic occasion). Not many other pairs are capable of this (maybe only Gao Ling and Zhang Jun on the same level)

actually, i think ZhaoTT made the difference in this match. she was much more proactive in the front court and was able to do more than just block the shuttle, she was able to keep the shuttle down and pressured Kim/Lee. before now, she was only scrambling in the front to protect ChenQQ, now she contribute much more to the pair.

i am not sure if it is stamina or it is just their style/personality. i don't think i have ever seen LeeHJ really go off and play all out agressively, her style tend to be more laid back. she seem to be just holding back and playing the game joyously instead of going all out and kill kill kill.

or perhaps expecting any pair to be in par with the great Kim/Ra is too much to ask for.....

in the WS, apart frm Zhang Ning, Xie XF, Zhou Mi and Gong RN also made it to the last 8... Youngster Liu Jian almost upset 4th seed Pi HY, losing closely in the rubber.
