the China Open 2008 (2) will be held on Nov 18-23, 2008 in Shanghai. Shanghai has won the rights for the next 3 years.

not sure about China Open 2008 (1). usually it is held in Chengdu, but Chengdu recent had a big earthquake.

agree. i try to figure out how to get to SH before HK, cost too much to have to figure out accomodations and all that.

Its very easy...flying with United/Airchina from SF to SH then SH to HKG with Air China.

Both airlines are part of Star alliance ....very efficient...

..(i heard) the Super Series Finale (the one with the half a million prize money) will be held in Shanghai also??..if it is, then there'll be 2 tourneys, basically in a row, held in the same city??..or it hasn't been confirmed, yet??..can someone clarify this??..:p

Hey is anybody planning to go Shanghai to watch this?
    Wanna meet up?
Because my friend and I want to go, but our parents feel that it's not safe for two of us to go alone.

    Let me know!
    Thanks!

that's gonna be cool.. my sister said that Shanghai is really a nice place to go.
But, I think it will be very cold that time 'cause it's gonna be held in the middle of winter season, right?
yeah, my sis will go to Shanghai in that period of time. Hopefully, my parents will allow me to go. It's gonna be fun to meet you out there

Still havent hit winter yet, so not that cold. That is why I am taking my vacation this period time at shanghai. I already told my friend in shanghai to get some tickets for the whole tournament. Getting ready to see all the great games. Too bad if INA wont send any players this time. I will miss some of the great players and cant get their autographs or pictures.

Yup, exactly! INA players will not participate China Open SS due to the schedule is too close with KejurNas/National Badminton Championship 2008 in Jakarta (11-15 November/08) -- brief info from KOMPAS (16 October/08).
