LD lost probably of 2 causes:

    1. If it was team order to lost, he lost not because he is afraid to meet Peter Gade or afraid Gade will know his style. Come on, they had play for so many times, both of them already memorize each style.

Team order him to loose for Chen Hong to get more ranking points. If Chen Hong can make it to Top 4 with LD and BCL, the Chinese will onlymeet each other minimal in Semifinal and not QF like now or BCL VS CH in Hong Kong QF recently. And also they will not meet each other in one group at World Cup 2005, Dec later.

    2. If it was not team order, LD simply is exhausted. In one month or so, he enter National Games where he is the winner. Hong Kong Open where he is also the winner and now China Open. He play too many times.

But my guess is it is team order for CH to gain more ranking points.

Here goes my theory about team order for LD to lost to gain points for CH.

Now Kenneth at rank 4 with 34708. Taufik no 6 with 33373 points. CH number 6 with 32790 and Peter G no 7 with 31693 points.

After end of Nov 2005, Kenneth will got reduced point to 30340.(From China Open and Singapore Open last year) Taufik will also got reduced point from last year China Open to 29593.

Now if Peter Gade lost in SF, he will got 32593 points and CH will at least got 32670 if he reach final. So the ranking will be CH no 4, Peter Gade no 5, Kenneth no 6 and Taufik no 7.

But of course CH had to beat PG in SF which I much doubt, cause the record is 7-1 for PG.

    Agree!

Why would LI Yongbo order LIN Dan to lose to CHEN Hong so that CHEN can play against Peter GADE? CHEN has been known to have problem against GADE while LIN is still ahead of GADE. I don't think Li Yongbo would risk the China Open title just to bring CHEN Hong's stats?

i agree with this analysis. it makes more sense than a consipiracy theory which only involves tweaking the ranking. esp since there are no upcoming major tournaments (ie. WC, Olympics)

no way he lost the match for such a purpose. Lin Dan is exhausted which is naturally for a player who has played in a lot of tournaments since WC. ChenHong is also known for being able to trouble LD. BTW I dont think he either lost the AE because of ranking points or because he would like CH to win. Neither did he lose the 1st set in the AE final to Gade, for wanting him to be tired, if he really wanted to fatigue gade he should have done it from the first point in the game. As someone already have mentioned in here players loose and win and even the worlds best ms player loose sometime, but please stop these excuses for your countrymen or idols. Would be the same as if I said Chen Jin only won yesterday against KJ because KJ just had been a father and he rather wanted to see his child than playing in China Open, bu he did not, he lost because of fantastic play from the chinese youngster.

That theory sounds weird to me also. If there were a conspiracy theory, i would believe that Chen Hong let Lin have some sleepy drinks, because Lin Dan looked very sleepy during the game.

Besides, I don't think Chen Hong, Lin Dan or Li Yongbo are good at mathematics. At least, the analysts here are far beyond what Chen Hong people can understand in Mathematics. But I believe those players are good at Chinese medicine, they must have all kinds of recipe to make a sleepy drink.

    :crying: LD losttt.....

By the way, double thumbs for Indonesian WD Polii/Novita....they only lost to the best pairs in the world, like Yang/Zhang, Lee/Lee, Gao/Huang....if they can maintain this, probably someday they will get 10 top...good for Indonesia especially when they have to face the UC qualification next year. Let's hope other WS and WD can do the progress as well...

Well, not a good performance for Indo MS, since SOny and SImon cannot perform well..It's not good for Indonesian team, they cannot only count on Taufik....

Maybe Indo has to learn a lot from China who has very good regeneration.

There still a Gong Weijie. Even though he lost to Chen Jin in the World Junior finals last year, Gong was more impressive of the two. He has a wide variety of shots and his cross court attacks had CJ always scrambling for the shuttle. After his energy levels went down, CJ was able to recover.

The interesting thing during that game, in my opinion I think CJ for many times tried to change the pace/tactics but was prevented by Gong better shuttle placement. In 2 years time GWJ will also be more mature and stronger. It will be interesting to watch then who will be better.

They both will be at the top rankings in a couple years time and are going to win many many tournaments among them, as long as they stay healthy. Who's better remains to be seen, there are so many other factors.

Watched WYHan play here last year, again the World Juniors. She is fast and aggressive. Her cross court drop with a straight smash is an awesome weapon. What I felt at that time, she did not vary much her game, and too many unforced errors.

From the juniors present here last year, I like Wang Lin better. Though she is the youngest (15), she appears to have more patience and also a wide variety of strokes. She is also tall - Wang Yihan, Lu Lan and Wang Lin appear to be about same height at that time, and handles the pressure well, but seem to get distracted during the matches.

Will see in a year or two their progress.

Of course, I do not have a crystal ball and everything said here is just a guess. :)

As of last year final, my opinion is Gong has better skills - dominated most of the rallies, often had CJ running around to retrieve the shots, but physically and experience wise not as good as CJ. But CJ on the other hand, had superb composure and fighting spirit. He kept going until Gong ran out of gas and he won the match. :D

To reach the top, technique alone is not enough. There is a combination of many components to make a champion. ;)
