MEN'S SINGLES
Lin Dan vs Peter Gade (MATCH OF THE ROUND)
Chen Jin vs Kenneth Jonassen

-- I hope Peter Gade can win after several close encounters with Lin Dan. Expect another 3-setter! Meanwhile, Kenneth might spring a surprise or two after his win agaist Chen Hong. If it goes to 3 sets, no question...Chen Jin to win.

WOMEN'S SINGLES
Wang Lin vs Wang Chen
Mia Audina vs Xie Xingfang (MATCH OF THE ROUND)

-- Wang Chen should win against find the fast-improving Wang Lin, maybe in 3 sets. Meanwhile, Mia is slowly back to her best form. She has recently beaten Wang Chen and Xu Huaiwen and have shown that she can trouble Xie as well (lost in 3 sets in semi-final of All England 2006)

MEN'S DOUBLES
Jens Eriksen/Martin Lundgaard Hansen
vs Michael Logosz/Robert Mateusiak
Tony Gunawan/Howard Bach vs Fu Haifeng/Cai Yun (MATCH OF THE ROUND)

-- easy win for the Danes, while Tony/Howard will face a hell of match against the attack-minded Fu/Cai. I hope to watch the match tomorrow and it should be a classic!

WOMEN'S DOUBLES
Wei Yili/Zhang Yawen vs Chien Yu-Chin/Cheng Wen-Hsing
Du Jing/Yu Yang vs Gao Ling/Huang Sui (MATCH OF THE ROUND)

-- straight forward wins for the Chinese girls, although I won't be surprised if Du/Yu win.

MIXED DOUBLES
Zhang Jun/Gao Ling vs Robert Mateusiak/Nadiezda Kostiuczyk
Jens Eriksen/Mette Schjoldager vs Xie Zhongbo/Zhang Yawen (MATCH OF THE ROUND)

-- easy win for Zhang/Gao, while Xie/Zhang face a slightly tougher match against Eriksen/Schjoldager. The young Chinese should prevail in 3 sets.

Surprisingly, we don't get all-China semis, even in the ladies' events.

I think if non of the china players win in this tournament, Li Yongbo is going to have a heart attack.....:D

Finals prediction....
MS-Peter Gade
MD-Tony/Howard
WS-Mia
WD-Chien/Cheng
XD-Eriksen/Schjoldager.

Ohhhh, maybe Li Yongbo will cry instead....

anybody got some info on Robert Mateusiak and his partners? he made his way into two semi-finals of a 6* event.

Michael Logosz has been paired with Robert Mateusiak for quite some time. They created an upset in the Olympics 2004 when they beat Sigit Budiarto/Tri Kusharyanto and lost out to the eventual gold-medallist Ha Tae Kwon/Kim Dong Moon in the last 16. I would say that they are a quite competent European pair, currently ranked no 11.

My PredictioN:
MEN'S SINGLES
Lin Dan vs Peter Gade (MATCH OF THE ROUND)
Chen Jin vs Kenneth Jonassen

LD will win based on his performance this year, probably in 3 sets. CJ will had a hard fought from KJ. But its time for the youngster to proved that he can earn the second spot in China MS now.

WOMEN'S SINGLES
Wang Lin vs Wang Chen
Mia Audina vs Xie Xingfang (MATCH OF THE ROUND)

Wang Lin will win cause she is much younger than WC and she the most improving younger China WS squads. XXF will win, maybe in 3 sets.

MEN'S DOUBLES
Jens Eriksen/Martin Lundgaard Hansen vs
Michael Logosz/Robert Mateusiak
Tony Gunawan/Howard Bach vs Fu Haifeng/Cai Yun (MATCH OF THE ROUND)

Jens/Martin will win but had to be alert all the time. It looks like the new scoring system prove real good for Michael/Robert.

For other match, I can’t predict who the winner is. 50:50. And yes , this match is the most interesting match tomorrow.

WOMEN'S DOUBLES
Wei Yili/Zhang Yawen
vs Chien Yu-Chin/Cheng Wen-Hsing
Du Jing/Yu Yang vs Gao Ling/Huang Sui (MATCH OF THE ROUND)

All Chinese final. Although Gao/Huang had to be extra careful for Du/Yu

MIXED DOUBLES
Zhang Jun/Gao Ling vs Robert Mateusiak/Nadiezda Kostiuczyk
Jens Eriksen/Mette Schjoldager vs Xie Zhongbo/Zhang Yawen (MATCH OF THE ROUND)

Again another all Chinese final. But the later match, will be a 3 sets win for Xie/Zhang.

i hope the WS final will be Wang Chen VS XXF..
Wang Chen wanna prove herself in front of LYB & XXF also wanna win WC becoz she lost to WC in the 10th National Games..it should be very exciting..

I think Tony Gunuwan and Howard Bach can do as they did complete this feat during the 2005 Copanhagen Masters a few months ago. However, this is on the new scoring system so it's really anyone's game.

i think howard and tony can repeat another win against cai and fu.
(i repeated this post in another thread inadvertently)

My thought after QF

Can't believe Hafiz lost to Chen Jin in straight set, I think it's about time to move Hafiz under Li Mao and see how it goes, not much time left for Thomas Cup and Hafiz is holding key position for Malaysia to advance deep into the round ...
Just look at Lee Chong Wei and Hafiz before and after the arrival of Li Mao, it's obvious LCW has excelled while Hafiz is stagnant. Coaching might not have everything to do with it but I don't see how Hafiz can contribute with his current form.
Quite dissapointed too with Yeo Kay Bin lost to Lin Dan, not becasue he lost rather he played not to win, very passive. Malaysia player need to learn from Kenneth Jonassen, dare to make changes and take risks to change the outcomes. KJ would have lost if he didn't change his strategy against Chen Hong on set 2 and 3. Chen Hong was caught by surprise of how aggressive KJ was after the lost of 1st game.
Lin Dan has yet to play his best and if he doesn't do it tonight then Peter will be in the final with the current 21 point format.
Most players take too much caution in 21-point system, afraid of making mistakes hence unable to show their true talents(except KJ in QF, Howard/Tony in MD too). The underdog should play like "no tomorrow" then there's chance to win(or loss big).
Just my thougths.

I Havent watched enuff hafiz to comment his ability but chen jin i had and he is exciting to watch. JC seem to be faster and has more ammo on attack.

LD was toying with yeoh. Yes, yeoh should have kept on his pace but he seem to give up too soon. This of course is due to LD amazing smashing and smash retrieving.

KJ after 1st game is completely different.... way way more agressive and assertive with his shots. Even his drop shots are firm and KJ's backhand drives and smash totally surprised chen hong.

imo, howard is playing even better than he was in 05 WC.

Personally i hope Peter Gade will win his match against Lin Dan. Currently Lin Dan is still somehow struggling in the New scoring system department.

MS: LD
MD: FHF/CY
WS: XXF
WD: GL/HS
XD: XZB/ZYW

:p :D

Though I usually want LD to win, I want PG this time as well. I hope Tony and Howard win too.

And DANG, mama Mia, she's something else huh? :D
