Yeah true, but it's awfully easy to rest on your laurels. I think consistency is also a big feat and achievement or why do you think they included Peter Gade into the Legends Vision apart from his Yonex sponsorship? :p

Just a random thought, I could be wrong. With Chen Long and LCW in the same half and slated for the Semifinal, perhaps CL might be playing that match with a view to who would be waiting for him in the final.

It'll be a dream come true for me if CL plays LCW in the semifinal and then take on LD in the grand finale here on LCW's turf and dislodging LCW from his MAS Open pedestal. Not betting on it though.

As far as badminton is concerned, who else can afford to rest on his laurels ? On a more positive note, for Lin Dan now, badminton is his life but his life is not only badminton, and that's great, there's a higher purpose in life as it should be for everyone. :)

It's not surprising to me that you want LCW to fail at his home event. This guy has been so close to winning a WC or Olympic gold medal and you even begrudge him the Malaysian Open? Come on! How heartless can one be? LCW is aiming for his 12th - yes, he already won his home event 11 times - Malaysia Open! And he is in great form. Last meeting with CL at the Malaysian Open was pretty one sided.

As you said, LCW has won 11 times already, why begrudge others to win it once ?:):D

Actually,I wish most to see the Super Trio, all three of them playing each other in the same tournament. Based on the draw here, we can only hope Chen Long - Lee CW play one of the Semifinals and for either one to take on Lin Dan in the Final.

Somehow I'm not too optimistic about such a scenario happening, too good to be true unless it's the Olympics or World Championships where capturing the title is ultimate, no less.

Agree. His Prime has 2 Olympic Holds, 5 BWF World Championships Gold, 5 All England and 2 Asian Games Gold to show.

But titles won before/after prime are truly spectacular.

For LD has one All England, one Japan Open SS and 3 Gpg's title to show which IMO could be a dream of many Top 25 Players.

Hence, Lin Dan's career would be the most balanced of all when he hangs his racket finally.

Lin Dan's route to the final is by no means easy, even tricky - tomorrow he's up against Tanongsak, then QF probably Chou TC awaits, and semifinal Viktor Axelsen is very likely to set up a meeting. If anyone of them stretches him quite a fair bit, leaving him half spent, there's no knowing what he might do the following match or before the final.

    1. everything is based on your 10 best results in the prior 12 months leading up to the tournament ranking cutoff date. for this tournament it is 24/02/2016 through 23/02/2017.
    2. then apply this calculation: http://system.bwf.website/documents/folder_1_81/Regulations/GCR/Part III - Section 1A - GCR Appendix 7 - Explanation of Adjusted & Notional Ranking.pdf
fhf had very good results and zsw is currently #1 in xd.
tbh was not very active/successful. also tbh/hendra have not had good results together.

I meant 5 All England in his prime

And 1 All England - post prime.

    5+1 = 6.

It is very unlikely that Lin Dan will face LCW in this Malaysia Open.

still not fully recovered from injury.

a top 10 ranked player/team can only withdraw from a ss/p due to injury, or face a $5,000 fine.

Looking at the draw, it is a guarantee that LCW will be in the semifinal : Hu Yun, Brice or JHJ are no match to LCW.
