    Hi all,

I hear Candra Wijaya will be at this year's summer camp at ClearTwo starting at the end of this month. Any of you lucky ones joining the camps?

Wish I could be there to at least see some of the action. Too bad I will be out of town while he is here :crying:

    Greetings,

I hope all is well! This year Northville Parks and Rec is hosting another
tournament with a special event included... Our goal for the weekend of
June 2nd through the 4th is to promote this game that we all love which is
BADMINTON of course. A lot of you know that this sport is also like family,
many of you may agree that the community of badminton players is like 2nd or
3rd family and to some the only family. We not only want to promote this
game but also during the event just enjoy one another's company, like a
family reunion or something you know? I know am starting to sound NUTS but
I think you all get what I am saying.

This year our special event is called "The World Class Experience" and I am
not going to share each person's bio on who's participating cause it's not
about their fame or what they've accomplished it's about giving everybody a
chance to see this game played at a higher level and most of all a chance
for anybody to learn how to play this game at that high level. The players
who are participating is Kevin Han, Halim Haryanto, Eric Go, Raju Rai, Kathy
Zimmerman, Erin Hois, Katarina Prax, Camilla Stroem and as well as other
midwest athletes like Matt Wrobel and other midwest players we're inviting
that can play that game at high level... Again it's not about them
personally... these are friends and individuals who share only one passion
which is to help bring awareness to this game. I understand they are not
super world champions or hardcore world legends but these are players who
love to coach, who love to help make this game grow and most of all these
are players who have amazing character as well as everyone else who plays
this sport. If we wanted Lin Dan or Peter Gade we would had broke our back
to get them to come out but I believe that each of these individuals can
help bring this experience alive and help us bring more awareness to this
    game.

The world class experience will consist of the following... Team
    tournament...

    Team U.S. International (Imported players)
    Kevin Han
    Halim Haryanto
    Katarina Prax
    Camilla Stroem
    Coach: Martin Barnes

Team: USA (Born in the U.S.)
    Raju Rai
    Eric Go
    Erin Hois
    Kathy Zimmerman
    Coach: Tom Charmichael

as well as Pro's vs Joes which will consist of Midwest and Mid-Atlantic
    players vs the Pro's.

The schedule of this event is June 3rd from 12:30-4
12:30 to 1:00 - Skills contest (fastest smash, trickiest shots, highest jump
    smash, etc.)
    1:00 to 1:30 Pro's vs Joes
1:30 to 4:00- Team match up, 21 points, split at 11.

    Matches:

    MX- Haryanto&Prax vs Go&Zimmerman
    WS-Stroem vs Hois
    MS- Han vs Rai
    WD- Stroem&Prax vs Hois&Zimmerman
    MD- Han&Haryanto vs Rai&Go

Team that wins the most matches win. This event is FREE... also Truth Spa
and Salon are setting up a couple message tables as well and they are FREE!
FRESS BODY MESSAGE, even for spectators and players... it's 15 minute per a
person. When was the last time you actually had a message for beautiful
lady, and um, yeah... guy too? Also they're giving away free gifts as well.
Not that this tournament is beauty parlor or anything but it's the free
message and free beauty tips that count right? hahaha... So that's a
    perk...

Another huge perk is that everybody will get a chance to play with these
pro's... Ever dreamed of playing doubles against or with 2001 world champion
Halim Haryanto? or even get coaching tips from Kevin Han or Halim? Ladies
and Gents... these players are here for you... It is a chance to get
personal, and ask them any questions and get tips on how to build your
skills and it's a chance for you to play against them and brag to everybody
that you beat a world champion... Take advantage of this huge offer....
All this is FREE! No catch or anything, just thank them for coming out.

Getting back to the tournament... If you havent signed up, it's cool... As
long as you sign up before next Wednesday or Thursday, you're totally fine.
NO extra fee... If you need a doubles partner or mix parter, we will do our
very best to get you one. If you're worried you'r out of shape or a bigginer
or something, DON'T! This tourmament is all level, beginner/out of shape
and up. We need you all to be apart of this and help us continue to build
    up this game.

If there is anyway we can help by asking any questions or anything, please
email us. This tournament planning team consist of Lilly Feng, Richard Teo,
Joe Barabario and myself. Lilly, Richard, and Joe and I are totally
committed to help you and help make this game grow. We are here to help. All
of them have been working hard to try to bring this world class badminton
experience LIVE in front of you and also an opportunity to ask questions,
get to know these players and become a better player both on and off the
court. If you have any ideas please let us know, we would love to hear them!

Help us, help grow this game. We need you!

    Thank you for your time!

    Dan

*Pros are not playing in the open draw, they will play in the event and also
open gym... not the tournament. So don't be scared if they are in the main
    draw cause they're not playing!

Darryl used to compete internationally; hence, he knows lots of foreign players.

He was a Danish ex-international. I couldn't recall his name either:eek:. Timeless told me about his experience at the summer camp before.

Who is this Dan guy who doesn't consider Halim's world championship a super achievement? He and Tony beat the previous world champions, Kim Dong-moon and Ha Tae-kwun in the finals, including 15-0 in the first game! You can't even say he's over the hill considering that he's won 2 tournaments last year.

Yup, Thomas Stavngaard is also coming back and I believe he's bringing some of the top danish juniors too (U-14/U-16 I think).

Also, there will be some athletes from Manitoba attending the camp as well.

    Candra is here now! :D

At the end of the session today, we did a 4 vs 1 demo against Candra (he played defense)...

... and of course, he won pretty much every single rally.

If you want to see him in action, drop by ClearTwo between 12:00 - 2:00, and 3:00 - 6:00 on weekdays until the 10th :)
