A casual check of the results reveal some surprises.

First, INA Gegoria Mariska lost to ESP Clara Azurmendi in a three-setter, an upset to me. Mariska is considered among the fancied prospects for the WS title. Is Spain producing an up-and-comer in WS ?

Second, SIN Yeo Jia Min retired to HKSAR at 1-6 down. Is she injured? Imho, Yeo JM is one of the good prospects for the individual WS title.
Eventually, Hong Kong, China defeated SIN 3-2 in the Grp C2 tie.

Can Gregoria avenge her defeat vs MAS Goh Jing Wei next in Qtr final?

Goh Jin Wei won again vs Gregoria Mariska.

I'm surprised to learn that CHN's Liu Haichao, who was fielded instead of Sun Feixiang, beat TPE's Lee Chia Hao, last year's WJC MS runner-up.

If I am not mistaken, he did not even reach finals.
Last year runner up was then 15 year old Siril Verma . Winner was another Taipei player. He is older and could not participate in this tournament.
    Is he Lu chia hung?

This Sun Fei Xiang looks like the real deal. Confident, strong, good tactics. One to watch on senior circuit one day.

That's what I thought when I watched his games at the AJC earlier this year.

I thought he played better there than here at the WJC, just based on his match with MAS Leong Jun Hao in the final , didn't get to see his game with JPN Koki Watanabe in the semifinals.

Team CHN won the World Junior Mixed Team Championships beating MAS 3-0 , with He Jiting/Du Yue in XD, Sun Feixiang in MS and Chen Yufei in WS scoring victories over MAS Chen Tang Jie/M Thinaah, Leong Jun Hao, and Goh Jin Wei, respectively.

Sure, the final result may have seemed inevitable.
But the final matches were very entertaining badminton. The WS was a clinic of endurance and precision.

I'm just grumpy that England finished 12th and appear to be going backwards.

agreed!! and chen yufei just "out stamina" and "out physicality" . The first game was a joy to watch.. very evenly match, where GJW manage to come from behind and almost stole the game. Second game not so much . CY seems to be holding back.. for some reason. By the third game, GJW seems a spent force.
