In December 2010 BWF agreed to establish a World Nations Rankings .The introduction of a World Nations Rankings will have beneficial effects in generating media coverage for Badminton and might also allow Countries to demonstrate to funding partners that they are worth investing in, while also incentivising others to improve their ranking. The attached World Nations rankings which in on a trial basis will be published on the BWF website from January to end of March 2011. During this trial period Member Associations are requested to give feedback on the rankings, their principles and weightings. An official ranking will be published from 1st April taking into account feedback received from Member Associations and making any adjustments deemed useful.
I am surprised that MAS is ranked as No.3 . Thanks for the info cxytdn. I am surprised that MAS is ranked as No.3. Perhaps Lee Chong Wei alone has brought in many ranking points for Malaysia. IMHO, the current World Nations Rankings could be listed as follows; 1. CHN (Strong in Singles and Doubles, in Mens and Womens) 2. KOR (Strong in Singles and Doubles, in Mens and Womens) 3. INA (Strong in Singles and Doubles, mainly in Mens) 4. DEN (Strong in Singles and Doubles, mainly in Mens) 5. MAS (Strong in Singles and Doubles, mainly in Mens) .
Do you know which evaluation criteria used for each parameter? Does it take only highest player's ranking for each nation? But, I feel quite strange. INA WS got higher point than THA, and etc Any explanations? Thanks
i would doubt if they take just that into account to calculate the points. A fair way would be to see how many players reached what stage in each tournament and and how many brought trophies back home. it'd make more sense.
The higher the stage players reached, the more points they accumulate . That's the same as adding up the points the players have accumulated. isn't it? I am referring to the higher the stage players have reached, the more points they will accumulate. .
Well, the BWF isn't doing what it promised. It's April 3rd and I'm not seeing any official nations' ranking.
