You can read it more in details here: http://www.badmintonplanet.com/badm...rman-denied-visa-for-world-championships.html
Well, if it's regard to political views, I think it's more because Indonesia will deny the Visa, from Israelis, so BWF just follow it.
This is nothing has to with BWF. This gorverment has the right to deny anyone to entry their country. We don't know this player has done something that relate to criminal record or not
This is actually a serious issue thanks fox for the link I don't know why are they mixing political or religious issues with Sports and that too in the World Championships!! Just imagine if South Korea deny N Kor and Ind deny Pak or the Americans deny Pak The mega sporting events will never be called as Open or world champs or world games...
Just further confirm my dislike of all government and sport association ! Less power to them, more independent to the people !
It's not up to Indonesia to decide who is allowed or not allowed to participate in he tournament. If you can't grant VISA to the participating players then why host it in the first place. This is a world championship.
I have read that PBSI and BWF actually tried all they could to push the government. PBSI hosts the tournament, but ultimately it's the government that has final say on the visa.
there is no point in discussing the matter further. INA is not a moderate moslem country. Their blood rise whenever Israel is involved in middle east conflict vs. Palestine & rest of the arab world + iran.
Indonesian would send jihadists, money and supplies overseas to their brothers in palestine before feeding their hungry citizens.
Just minority percentage of Indonesian people that have that view but majority of politicians also support that view. It goes to show how stupid and selfish politicians are. More power to the people, less power to the government !
Indonesia grants Israeli athlete visa, ending standoff After a two-week wait in Singapore, badminton player Misha Zilberman, 26, set to compete in Jakarta world championships AP — Indonesia granted an Israeli badminton player a visa to enter the country and compete in the world championships in Jakarta after a months-long standoff, Israel’s national Olympic committee said Monday. The Olympic Committee of Israel said Misha Zilberman, 26, had been cleared to enter Indonesia — the world’s most populous Muslim country — after being repeatedly denied a visa because he is Israeli. OCI secretary general Gili Lustig said Zilberman had been waiting in Singapore for two weeks after making an initial visa application six months ago. He said the Badminton World Federation intervened to ensure Zilberman could secure a visa. Zilberman was scheduled to fly from Singapore to Jakarta on Monday accompanied by his mother, also a badminton player, as well as the CEO of the Badminton World Federation, Lustig said. Zilberman is set to compete on Tuesday. Lustig said the visa delay had prevented Zilberman from properly training for the championships. “But for us it’s a big victory that he will be there,” Lustig said. “Now he’s an ambassador for Israeli sport.” In a post on his Facebook page on August 3, before he was granted the visa, Zilberman voiced his dismay with the visa denial. “They won’t give me a visa to participate in the world championship!!” he wrote. “After six months of exchanging letters, and after sending all the documents they requested, and after we arrived in Singapore, they are saying no.” Israel does not have formal diplomatic relations with Indonesia and many other Muslim-majority countries, some of whom have denied Israeli and Arab Israeli athletes visas to compete in the past. Zilberman competed in the 2012 London Olympics, the first Israeli badminton player to represent his country at the games. He has won numerous badminton competitions in Israel, including mixed doubles with his mother, who is also his coach. 1) INA is more moderate than ISR and more moderate, tolerant and peaceful than ISR, USA and US ally Saudi 2) Jakarta has produced less Jihadists than London (Statistical Fact) and sent less money to radical Islamic Terrorism than US allies Qatar or Saudi 3) Please do not insult any country or religion as a generalisation. If you want terrorism to stop, stop buying Saudi Oil, destroy training camps of Pakistan and get you allies like Turkey, Jordan etc to act against ISIS. Had you people left secular de facto dictators like Saddam, Hosni, Gaddafi and Assad and not try to steal oil and other resourcrs, the world would have been peaceful. 4) Also the entire ISR-PAL problem was created by you brothers-in-arms the UK in 1919. 5) Study history, diplomacy and IR before generalising. nilesh123 Actually the civilised nations need to culturally, economically and diplomatically boycott all nation who use terror as a state policy like the ones you mentioned. If SA was barred for apartheid, terrorism is a much graver problem. Also as an aside, imagine what will happen if the Islands issue between CHN and JPN get out of hand and the two countries get on a diplomatic loggerhead.
Hi Fan123, I am INA citizen, born and raised. You are barking at the wrong tree here. There are some INA people easily provoked to be jihadists joining ISIS. The local gov can ban churches and other teaching of islam.
I am not a US citizen. i am fortunate to live here to reach the American dream like all my brothers here from China and India. Why you so hate the Americans?
