    Best is lossless recording which you can achieve using a digital TV card or box (either for DVB-C or DVB-S(2)) connected to your computer. If the signal is encrypted, you can decrypt it with your computer (but I won't go into detail here for obvious reasons). If it's not encrypted (as it was the case for the BBC Olympics channels on the Astra 28.2° East satellite position), you can simply record the broadcastings using your DVB software. I did it that way - was no problem at all. Such a device is normally between 60 USD to 150 USD (depends whether DVB-C or DVB-S(2), whether high end or low end, USB or PCI or IEEE1394 etc.).
