Old discussion, but WS is of course by far the most competitive discipline. All commentators (whether Gill, Steen or MF) agree on that, by the way. And looking at the Podiums of the 500+ tournaments, it's basically always the same guys and not "everybody can win". Antonsen is in the final of a 1000+ tournament without having to play a single seeded player. That's dumb luck, nothing else. 8 of the 10 players in WS are all time greats. Can you say that for MS or MD or any of the other categories? MS has 3 at best, two of which (SYQ and KM) are still very young. No wonder that occasionally (very rare, like this tournament and only because of injuries of two top players) a non top player like Antonsen can make a final. It's simply lack of competence by the rest of the top ten. If that is "competitiveness", well....
AA who is one game down playing with more urgency whilst CTC ahead wants to avoid mistakes to consolidate his advantage. I think CTC had better step it up now.
Im not sure if competitive but my competitiveness encompass unseeded players upsetting seeded players. Its very hard to happen so theres not much unexpected. Plus there hasnt been Marin for a while now who is OlympicChampion. so the upset, it happens like ASY did to TTY but imo not often as much but yeah, one can see super competitiveness of the top 8 players. so WS is exciting only for QF or SF onwards while imo say MD is exciting from the get go.
