    Yes, a good day for Denmark with a couple of titles (inc.MS) in the Hungarian open too.

    They are not "independent" in the sense that they don't belong to the association. They are just players from a second league team (Tricky Panders) http://www.badminton-league.jp/pdf/2017/team/w/tripan_w.pdf that is sponsored by Babolat. As far as I know, players who are not part of national team A or B (http://www.badminton.or.jp/national/member2017.html) have to be granted permission by the JBA to enter overseas tournaments and provide funding themselves. Incidentally, their team recently did a crowdfunding campaign to keep proceedings going and if google translator serves me correctly, they also thanked the contributors on social media.
