    Lunchtime Crowd

Hi MidBadder. You must have come on Tuesday at lunchtime, because we noticed that it was quite crowded too, but it's not always that bad at lunchtime. Phu has talked to many of the high school students who come to the lunch open gym and tried to get them to come in the evenings instead.

We were contemplating extending the open gym (a few courts) past two, since we only have summer camp after open gym and that only takes up about 8-9 courts. However, Phu also (sporadically) started a summer training program for high school students and that is taking up the rest of the courts. The low-cost/free training program is for high school students who really want to get better but cannot afford it. Phu is trying to help these kids as much as possible, because he cannot bear to say no to motivated kids who want to train but just don't have the financial resources. We hope you understand.

In the meantime, we will continue to persuade the high school crowd to come at a later time. And if they are willing to come earlier than 11, then we may open earlier.

    Thanks,
    Bintang Badminton

    totally understood.
Just tired of asking those kids to get off court since they are occupying the court too long.
Appreciate Phu's effort for those young kids. :):)

Bintang - Best floors in the Bay Area!

I have been a gym hopper for the past year. And I must say that Bintang's new floors are the best of all the clubs in the Bay Area. The cool badminton mats sitting on top of the wooden suspension flooring gives you the ultimate badminton experience. The floor is stable enough that you can push off from it immediately, and yet it is soft enough that your knees/ankles/back feel no pain, even after hours of play!

SC's Taraflex is definitely too hard - only a thin layer sitting directly on the cement. We can feel it in our knees and ankles after a few games.

UBC has badminton mats too, but they sit on a foam underlayment. It is way too squishy; you can't push off from it easily.

GGBC has decent floors, but they are still hard compared to Bintang's new ones.

Kudos to Phu and gang for the great improvement in the floors! My friends and I love it!!! This is a long awaited moment. We are finally ready to settle with one gym.

And they invested a lot of money also. Everyone playing in Bintang should help them out by buying a Tee-shirt. Way to go - Bintang - the best badminton gym in the bay area.

    Thanks for the support!

We didn't know there was a thread about our new floors! We have been so busy preparing for the floor renovation and now working on the final touches that we haven't had time to do anything else!

Thank you everyone for all the compliments. We are very happy with the turnout of the floors. All the hard work and $$$ are worth it. Playing the first game on the new floors was completely satisfying!

Thank you to all the people who showed their support by getting a shirt. And also much thanks to those who came down to lend a helping hand. Without everyone's support, we would not have been able to do it so quickly and so seamlessly. We hope you enjoy! Happy badminton-ing!!! :)
