A small group of BC members met for a photo session at the entrance to stadium and ayu and I later joined the Malaysian Cheer Team with their star cheerleader. Unfortunately we did not take pics of our Saturday night satay party and thereafter refreshments at Old Town coffee shop (originated in Ipoh) at Subang with abedeng and robin7. Can you identify who we are?
Uncle Loh, thank you for the photos. Great ones esp the "fanatic Msia fan" whom we could see him almost EVERY TOURNEYS in Msia. Did u take any photos with players, particularly LCW or Taufik?
Thanks for the pics.. ..Loh!! Too bad there weren't any pics of the get-together.. Anyway, to ID the people, let me take a shot at guessing the names: (from left to right in 1st pic): ???, hcyong, spchu, and of course Loh... Which one is ayu??..is she the one in the 2nd pic, standing 2nd from right??..
yes you are correct. hcyong seems to have become more "prosperous" since the last time we met Loh, nice pics!
Chris, great guess! As confirmed by Sealman. May I introduce our dear guest anonymous, rwchen, more familiar with those who play PAWs. Rw is the sister of the other older brother Chen who gave us a good run for our money in one of the PAWs. Brother and sister colluded to give us a hammering! Rw is a college mate of both hcyong and spchu and she is currently working in Malacca but took the trouble to drive up to KL for this special tournament won again by LCW. Unfortunately rw didn't join us in the final. Hopefully she managed to see the action on TV. It seems brother Chen is in Penang and obviously he is a bit too far (and maybe too busy with work) to come down to KL. But we came up from Singapore for the action! No chance of meeting the others, especially ants, terry, hau-ge and fastdrop. Ants in particurlar was too preoccupped with taking close-ups of the professionals in action on the courts and maybe the Japanese ladies were a bit too difficult to get away from! Hau-ge might have to entertain the Indonesian contingent as well.
Competing Cheerleaders There was some friendly rivalry between the Malaysian and Indonesian cheerleaders on the aisle in front of us. Both were trying their best to jostle for position to catch the attention of the media, the audience and the players. It would appear that our Indonesian cheerleader was not at all intimidated on foreign soil and he seemed to get the better of the goings-on! He scored points for his decoration, a beautiful baju with a decorated songkok and a string of feather shuttlecocks round his neck. Best of all, he danced his ronggeng tastefully with coordinated relaxed fingers and in tune with the music!
i sat next to the indonesian cheerleader and found him quite amusing. However, he was very agressive and intimidating at times.
I hope.. ..the whole M'sian cheerleading squad and its leader can make it to the Thomas & Uber Cup, come May, in Jakarta..
Thanks Loh for the picture. It was great experience watching the matches live with both my ex-college mates, hcyong , spchu and Loh. It was nice to meet abedeng and Robin7 for the first time too. They are all badminton fanatics!! I watch life TV broadcast at home on the final day and I should have caught those wonderful actions live in the stadium. Too bad, my younger brother, ycchen was occupied with work and could not make it this time.
Hi rwchen, I thought you wouldn't want to miss the finals on TV. Sorry to have mistaken ycchen as your elder brother. Hope to meet up with him and you at the next opportunity!
BC members have photo coverage from all angles. courtside, rooftop, audience stand, everywhere! pretty cool stuff.
My goodness! Mr Twobeer I presume? We've met! So I caught you on camera! I talked to you too without knowing your identity! Remember, during the semi finals, the guy behind you tapped on your shoulder and asked whether Tine and Jonas were related? I thought you're Danish! That's me and coincidently, I caught you in action many times with my camera as you are in my path when I took pot shots at the cheerleaders.
mr loh, i think twobeer was sitting near the railing. right? so the one sitting in front of you should be somebody else. or am i mistaken? confused now....hahahahahah
Oh yes, you're right. Pardon me, hahaha. I missed the red markings initially. Must have thought it was part of the background. Unfortunately I did not catch a glimpse of Two beer as he was seated right in front, otherwise I would have conveyed a huge hello. BTW, the Old Town (?) coffee at Subang was very good. Robin told us the franchise originates from Ipoh. Have you tried it? We missed you too.
Twobeer, I saw u too on Friday. U were sitting at L6 1st row 3rd from the right, am I right? I was sitting 3rd from your left. I didn't know till fastdrop sms-ed me.
