That's what ZZ said but (report) confirms otherwise. Looks like we will have to wait longer to know both suspect of match fixing, since BAM is investigating with BWF.

Not quite millions unless rupiah. I expect it to follow the same process as LCW's unhappy episode. Except this time, BWF are the investigative force.

I'm not sure if ZZ can be 100% cleared from suspicion. There are not that many male Malaysian players who played in both AE and WC based on the players' list for both competitions. Assuming that it isn't him, that means the news reports that two independent players are being investigated are inaccurate. In other words, it involved players in the national setup.

Until BAM further clarifies, the only independent player who has played both thus far is ZZ.

If BWF is working with law enforcement, they can lawfully seize the phone and perform forensic image of the phone and extract out the WhatsApp messages. Given that MACC is involved, I guess that could be one way through which the messages are extracted. They would also need to do so as well, because if they don't, the chain of evidence will be broken and MACC will not have a case against the player.

I'm not sure if BWF can do that without law enforcement... I'm not sure if international sporting bodies (as a whole) are granted that much rights and power over a person's belongings?

    Another clue is published today

Two independent shuttlers under probe for match fixing
    Wednesday, 14 Feb 2018

It is learnt that one of them used to be a top junior player while the other was a former Thomas Cupper in his 30s.

Both players, who are provisionally suspended, are expected to attend a hearing by the BWF in Singapore later this month.

If found guilty, they will be banned for life.

Former Thomas Cuppers in their 30s who are independent and active: Liew Daren, Chong Wei Feng

Tan Boon Heong was just called back to the national team, so it isn't him. Koo Kien Keat and Tan Chun Seang aren't playing anymore so I don't think they count.

Both Daren and CWF played in Thailand and msia open . So they are clean.
Do not write off Koo kien keat although he has retired. The match fixing backdated 2014 and he was paying actively then.
Furthermore understand he join BWF after retirement but really no news of him henceafter. Very mysterious of his whereabouts now.
