Pretty good. Be careful of those black shirts. Single colour T shirts make it harder for the AF system to focus on.
thanks for the support guys. i shot just under 100 frames in total in about an hour and half. the first shot of the guy doing scissors must've been a fluke - that was a single frame - not a burst. i need to adjust the wb next time i do it though because our gym is incredibly yellow - yellow tiles on the floor, with yellow lights above - and i think they are the type that cycle so i've got some odd dark shots in my collection. i'm a bit restricted as to where i can sit tho - i can pretty much only sit either behind the court - or next to the net post. doesn't leave much in the way of angles. it was good fun, and i'm sure there will be plenty more opportunities to shoot
hehe, indeed.. and why not - wouldn't it be amazing if when a tournament came round we could all be there, round the finals court, covering all the angles. we'd always get the best shot don't know how long i could sit by a court tho - i only covered the first 10 minutes of one of the games and my feet were going numb...
That's a very nice idea, we can share our Canon equipment on site. You'd better practice more, and find a comfortable sitting posture. You will not willing to leave if the game is very exciting.
naaah - i just need to recover the muscle i lost off my glutes from being off training for the last 12 weeks.. shame i won't be training again for at least another 8 weeks i reckon :s TA ruptures suck!!
Yay, just shot my first badmintony stuff this past Friday. http://dummey.smugmug.com/gallery/4156548 Friendly game between UCSD and Cal. Taken with: Pentax 100D Super 15-55 f/2.8 kit lens ISO 1600 Had some serious issues trying to focus with UCSD wearing almost all black shirts. Also had to keep under 35ishmm to get proper exposure. Quite a pain to shoot in a gym.
Nice pictures Is this a DSLR or a P&S? Your courts have more lines on them than a share-broker's brow! How does anyone manage to stay within the court?
If that was directed at me.. the 100D super is a DSLR. The gym is a multi purpose gym at the university. Never really occurred to me as confusing, but I can definitely see how I could be for somebody who plays primarily on badminton only surfaces.
nice pics for a first time dummey - i've not had much chance to shoot any more yet. is anybody shooting at the Malayasian Open?
This should be in Malaysia Open 2008 thread. But since you requested. Here are a few photos from qualifiying round. All taken from spectator stand.
Using Panasonic FZ18. Quite light? you mean the stadium lighting. It is quite bright. Manage to use 1/125 F3.0 ASA400. Spot light on top of roof. See pictures.
This might not fit to this thread, but I have recorded a very interesting antic of Li Mao using my FZ18. The photos I took of Li Mao having a lively conversation with WMC's family posted above related to this clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJatndutOHk
hey everybody - i covered the semi and finals of our local badminton tournament yesterday - great fun. i filled my 4gb memory card (i say filled - i tin i had about 100 photo's on there already) altogether shot 276 photo's whati wanted to ask was - when you guys go thru your pics in DPP or Lightroom (i'm spoilt - i have both) what do you do first? in lightroom you can do pick's and rejects, and then rate them 1* to 5* and even mark them witha color (i presume this is if the picture has gone a funny shade of whatever) what do you do? i'll post up a link to the gallery of my chosen pics - compared to last time i have some really nice ones - altho i was shooting at iso3200 because it was a little dark and i wanted the high shutter speed cheers Neil
didn't know 20D has ISO3200? in LR, i go through them first time, mark the really bad ones with reject (shortcut key "x"). mentally remember what the average quality looks like. and then go through once more to mark * if i think there are outstanding ones.
