I use a grommet grinder to rotate ok grommets, to push out grommets I use it, I think that is what it is made for. to push in grommets that are tight, I use a table or something flat and push the grommet in against the table then use the rounded part of my pliers to finish pushing it in.

Not sure if these have come up yet. And I haven't used them yet, but the first impression is very nice. The smaller one is sold as a badminton starting clamp, the 2-spring-version is sold as a tennis starting clamp.

The bigger one is also sold by tennisman, but I was lucky enough to get one brought to me from China for less than half the price. Shuttle for scale:

The smaller one is flawless while the bigger one shows a little bit of texture from manufacturing.

It looks like it will grip anything.

That's some really nice CNC work there. Very excited to get my hands on that small one - the compact size should make it the perfect clamp for tying knots.

Nice! I'd be interested in a small one as well! Can anyone share with me where I could get one?

Easy solution. Own both =) Doesn't hurt to own 2 starting clamps - especially if the design and mechanics are completely different..

No. But that's the link I gave a friend to find it on Taobao/JD/.... and they use the same pictures. It should be the same clamp.

I find the price at 50€ is still quite high for a starting clamp

That's an order of magnitude in price difference. If the price doesn't matter, the Kimoni one should be way better. But then....
This. If you're willing to pay the price for Kimoni/Yonex, why not add another 25€ (the price Simon will pay for the smaller one) or 30 (the price I paid for the larger one).

I just noticed this thread, but these so far have been my favorite, maybe 2nd favorite all time pliers to use. Best I had owned but cannot find were a pair of Snap-On mini bent nose pliers, a friend dropped them and the tip broke. These pliers copy the 3.peaks brand spring, the original is a little stiff so I changed to 3.peaks spring because it is almost the same and it fits. I found on Amazon, Gold Deer brand and 3.Peaks S-03[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Those paint chips on each of those blocked grommets look like tool work to me. I just use scrap string to move the mains up/down to get the cross through.

I've ordered this little helper for these kind of occasions a while ago from Aliexpress:

You have to be careful, but the hook is slim enough to go behind the string and move it away gently from the blocked hole.

I actually really like this little thing. Here’s how it performs on those classic blocked non-staggered single pass holes on a N9II for example:

The markings you see were already there so not caused by the tool.

The key is to not really pull the string away but more to move it with a rotation of the tool.
