I saw lin on friday sat, sun, against ronald, sony, and gade. Ther are no superlatives good enough for him. The opponents were no where near him, even gade who "took" a game off him (see other thread)

He has all the attributes of the chines players (speed, skill, power, technique)
but has another important one, that his others dont (Chenyu, Chen Hong, andto a lesser extent bao) That is mental strength, tactical awareness, and fight. He has the ability to change to the opponent he is playing, and beat thm by the same scoreline that he beat a different type o player the previous day. He has a badminton brain, he knows which shot to hit, where to put it to make the opponent struggle the most. And all this from a 20 year old.

He is the next hero, and experience can only better his game, unlike chen hong, whose age means he moves slower, not suiting his game, and once his young confidence to smash has gone over the years, he is less effective, lin however uses all aspects of the game, and shows great maturity for one so young.

Any way, on the saturday, we went after his game againsyt ronald, and after li yong bo had finishe dtalking with him, he came and signed our tickets, My G/F asked for his towel for me, as I am left hander, and he is my hero. He gave us it!!!

The next day (the final, he uses just a plain white towel, I think he had to steal it from the hotel (watch the videos, you will see-saturday yonex towel, sunday plain white bath towel!)

Appreciative, on sunday we brought a toblerone chocolate to give to him. When he won, after the lap of honour, he came to sign the tickets, we gave him it, and if on the tv it showed him mounting the podium a second time, on his own, you will see underneath his cheque (or towel) is a long triangular tube of toblerone chocolate, our gift to him!!!

he was a nice guy, very shy actually. I also got picture with Zhou Mi, and my friend talked to Ha tae Kwon. The picture with Zhou Mi was taken before her final on sunday, when she was "preeparing" by visiting the shops with her doctor!! great prep.

If I'm peter gade and saw that toblerone on Lin Dan, i would be jealous because being 2nd i should deserve at least a smaller chocolate bar like a kit kat or Jersey Milk.
